An introduction to me and my methods and knives!!!!

Wow thanks for the info, I was planning on making a small forge for heatreating only,as I do stock removal for now, and I could not find a lot of info on them so I thank you deeply for making it work, and sharing with us. It seems very cheap and efficient for a small forge like yours. You should do a in depth post or even video on your forge! It would help me out and a lot of other guys on this forum, because let's face it, just about everyone has natural piped to their house! Again thanks and keep up the good work my friend.

Jeff....Chuck at AKS is a good guy to do business with and a wealth of information. I use 1/8" 3/16" and 1/4" pivots with corresponding SS bearings.

I do most of my equipment and tooling purchases through an online company their prices are fair and they have discounts deals all the time check enco.com they will have everything you need for machine work. You might want to check out a post in this forum by "Varga" he is doing a folder WIP and you can see his method of cutting the lock bar I use the same technique either on a Mill or drill press...

Running in the bearings information can be found if you do a google search for IKBS bearings....its a method of producing a bearing race for the balls to run in on both the blade and liner or frame makes for a smooth surface very little drag to slow the deployment of the blade...needs to be done before blade hardening!!!

Thank you again for all the great info Mike. I will definitely be getting some bearings and pivots from AKS.

I did check out enco.com and it does look like a great resource. I did check out Varga’s method for cutting his lock bar and actually that is the method that I used but it was a great idea the way he puts two drill bits in his holes for alignment so I will be doing that from now on. Not having a milling machine I did it using my drill press so feeding it in manually I was afraid to tackle the thickness of a frame lock that way but since that’s the way people do it I will give it a try.

And yes I did find that website that explains running in the bearings using a vice and definitely will be trying that also. Thanks again for all your help.

I was happy to see your interest in my natural gas heat treating oven BallewBlade because I love to operate the thing and had a lot of fun getting the design right and it was really gratifying once I got the flame to operate properly. So if it would be of help I’m glad to make a more in-depth post which I will do today since it’s cold rainy and crappy out so I really don’t feel like doing anything productive, LOL.

Here is a little video I shot yesterday showing what kind of flame you can get just using residential service to whet your appetite, LOL. But I should have my entire new post done this afternoon.

Here is the detailed post on my residential natural gas supplied heat treat oven: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...-Details-of-my-Natural-Gas-Heat-treating-Oven

Cool thanks so much, really looking forward to it! For some reason its says the video is private when you try viewing it.

Thanks for letting me know about my video being private Ballewblade. It is the first video I put on Youtube so I didn't realize it was private until I published it. Hopefully I fixed the issue. Please anyone let me know if it is playable now. I do have the posting finished detailing my heat treating oven if you would like to view it. It is called. "Details of my Natural Gas Heat-treating Oven..."
