I feel like this show is going downhill. Last three episodes have pretty much been recycled (with a few new tidbits thrown in) but in different environments - they always find a river or ocean. Dave always gets that big piece of meat. And, if they spend another 15-minutes talking about Cody walking barefoot next Friday, I'll turn the channel.

Dang. So much potential with this show.

Yea and I think Dave's need to eat is distracting them from shelter, fire and signaling.
Aren't these supposed to be short term survival scenarios not long term? Why so much focus on food.
Last night (Laos) was pretty much a repeat of previous shows.
Les still rules!

I just saw this show for the first time last night (don't have cable/ dish network where I reside) and thought it was interesting. He admitted, offhand, that his Mora wasn't up to snuff for the jungle. I'm sure his feet were killing him, as well. I loves Dave's descriptor of partner as "Cody Homemaker"!

I don't get all the complaining about this show on the different forums. If you don't like it, just stop watching it. Man vs. Wild, I dislike and never watch it.
I really enjoy Dual Survival and look forward to it every week. I hope it continues. Looking forward to Man, Woman, Wild also. Next Friday at 9:00pm EST.

It only to make sense to me that a regular viewer would share his disappointment with the direction the show is taking - Discovery is actually one of those networks that responds to/relies heavily on viewer feedback. Right along with Les's show, I think 'Dual Survival' is great... but, the repetitiveness is strangling it - all in the producer's hands now.

Last night was the first time I saw this show and I thought it was entertaining enough.

I do appreciate the differences in approach and the way that each is confident enough to speak their mind. I hope that they don't fall into an old married couple routine complaining about the same old thing episode after episode.

That said, I'm interested in seeing more. There's a lot to teach people about being in the wilderness. I hope they get into hard looks at their own approaches and how they might change in the future. I can see why they went with these two guys to get a yin/yang kind of program, but it would be nice if they debriefed after getting back to safety and talked about what worked and what didn't so people can learn without having to cut their feet up or potentially get the runs from drinking suspect water.

Fair enough Sufler. Nothing personal, but I'm really tired of all the bashing of Cody and Dave. IMHO, I think they are doing a great job.

I like it but it is getting a bit repetitive. It sure beats Man vs. Wild and all the set up scenario BS. Bear is an idiot and if people actually do what he tells them to do they will F^%!$G DIE PERIOD! I am waiting for Myke Hawke's show with his wife. That should be good with some humor.

I enjoyed the two episodes that I've seen, but I agree the feet things getting old. In both episodes every five minutes..."Cody hows your feet ?","Cody hows your feet ?","Cody hows your feet ?" I'm sure he'll let you know if there is a problem, he's a big boy. Other than that its an alright show. Why not drop them off in the same area 10 or so miles apart and see how they handle getting out. Give them the same gear, see who gets out first and their different approaches, maybe they bump into one another, who knows. They only downside it would probably be a logistical nightmare and costly having two camera crews out there.

IMO ALL of the survival shows are stupid time wasters

I'm aware of only one that isn't. I don't know what it was called but I do know it was made by Nationwide TV back in the 70's. The bits I saw from it were during a different meta-show that was exploring the mysterious world of so called 'reality tv'. The objective was to show the differences between reality tv then and now, and the demise of anything real about any of it now.

Anyway, in the one I have in mind a willing guy but devoid of any advanced skills was rowed out to an island off Scotland. Bearing in mind this was back in the day so he was equipped with wool and waxed cotton clothing, a canvas haversack , a few simple tools, some snare wire, fishing bits, and a side by side shotgun. If you're thinking along the lines of miserable cold and soggy with a jacknife with a spoon on and an old enamel mug and plate you're on track. He was just dumped there and every few days a couple of guys would row out to have a look to see how he was doing and film him. Unlike anything one might see now survivor bloke made it abundantly clear they were an intrusion when they showed up and he resented them being there. It was his island and he had things to do and they were in the way. They'd try to film him on his daily rounds of the rabbit snares and he'd be trying to shake them off. He had embraced the role and those people were a useless intrusion just slowing him up. Far from being bored this guy was solving problems, and with a lot on his mind he was vocalizing his thoughts – but not in a presenting kind of way, more like the overheard muttering of a wino in an ally talking to a building. Despite the fact that he was a journalist he soon got over that. So well had he immersed in the role time and were resources were precious to him and he resented anything screwing with it. The thing is, that which made it realistic apparently didn't make for great tv. From a tv production point of view the star had lost the thread, no longer gave a hoot about the show, and ceased to cooperate. The series was axed and he was pulled out against his will. TV hasn't been made that way here since.

The stuff they show now is about as entertaining as watching Wifeswap or Paris Hilton's blah. Fun for a chuckle while you toke but you could never be sure you really would deliver that kick in the gusset if you met one because you just don't know how much is staged tv boswellox. I think the moral of the story is gaiters on and never invest in any of it, then it's safe.

Yup. I like the whole Hippy and RedNeck survival theme...a hell of a lot more fun than the older ones...
I just cant get around Mike Hawkes name...say it 3 times fast, away from the kids..and you will know why.:D

Should be a cool show though. I wonder how much skill his wife has.

I just wish we got the show over here !:(

Even if it is repetative it's still gotta be better than 99% of the other garbage on the gogglebox...dancing with the stars, America's got talent, that couple who had 100 kids and sponge off the governmet...ya get the idea !:grumpy:

I enjoy that I actually learn something every episode. I don't know if I'll retain any of it... but it's there.

I do feel that Dave, and his methods, are given preference over Cody. I watch it on the internet, but it seems like Cody is frequently deferring to Dave's expertise. Which, in a survival situation you should do if the other person is more knowledgeable, but I wish the producers would pick areas where both of them have expertise. Or, barring that I wish they would alternate.

The only thing that has bothered me thus far was the Iguana. I think it blinked at me after they "severed" the spine. I realize it was probably just a "death throe", but I would have gone for decapitation.
