An open post to Sal.

Sal, I love that you take the time to contribute on this forum. It is just phenomenal that you share your wealth of knowledge and interact with your customers. For a knife lover, seeing you post on here is kind of like seeing Mick Jagger post on a Rolling Stones forum, it's just cool to see. Thanks for all you do and for making such great knives!

Hi Maniac,

You can also send the knife to us. That gives us the opportunity to study the problem. We would also replair or replace the knife for you. Sorry for the hassle.

It's difficult to keep in mind that these knives are made and inspected by people. Regardless of how skilled they may be, it is not possible to be perfect all of the time. How many uf us could pass the test?

Hi Sal,

Thanks for responding to my post. For sure quality control can miss something, but I still believe this kind of damage should be noticed. Tomorrow I'll try to take some good quality pictures.

Sending the knife back to Heinnie Haynes (UK) and get a exchange is more cost effective for me. Also I don't trust Dutch customs, I'm reasonably certain they would charge me if you send me a replacement.

Richard

Thanx Richard,

I understand. Would you please call it to the attention of the dealer to try to get the part to us?

Personally, I'm a huge fan of anything coming out of the Thaichung, Taiwan factory. In my opinion, they're Spyderco's best designs, collaborations and highest quality products. I have nearly every current Spyderco knife from that plant.

Agree 100%, except the part about owning almost all of them, I wish.

Tbh put up most other china made knives against a Tenacious and it'd blow them away .
Most retailers list COO .
I have Golden , Japan , China and Taichung by far the best is Taichung the Vallotton although the sharpest OTB was the FFG Endura 4 -Japan .
ATB .

Wow Maniac! I've never seen anything like that on the forums coming from any manufacturer, not just Spyderco. That's a puzzler. Excellent pictures BTW. Good luck.

Not to say that this is not an isolated case but this is one of the reasons I like to hand pick knives then I have no complaints after the purchase, I know its not always possible as some suppliers do not get all models.

Looks like somebody dropped it in a garbage disposal. Actually, those are some very odd markings. I am having difficulty coming up with how that happens.

Wow. That knife came to you with its own story already. I have beaters I've used for years that have less personality. The good thing is you'll be taken care of period, but you're right that shouldn't come out of a new box regardless of manufacturer.

390 I hope you pick up more Spydies in the future. They will have a model in one shape or another that will be ergonomically perfect for your particular hand. And as far as knives go come so crazy sharp right from the factory unlike many other brands! For me it's one of two brands of knives that you just have to have at least one of no matter what price range.

That's really strange the Domino had such aberrations. Perhaps it was a return from another purchaser?! I've seen and have nothing but first-rate quality on all Taichung models. So, this is baffling indeed!

Yeah, I have 3 Taichung knives, all flawless when they came. I just got my Southard yesterday!!!!! New batch just came out.
