Yeah, I have 3 Taichung knives, all flawless when they came. I just got my Southard yesterday!!!!! New batch just came out.

My backup Southard came in this past week as well. Although it's just a backup I opened and closed it about 20 times, ran my fingers all around it and the blade sharpness plus a closer inspection with a magnifying glass for flaws and centering. It's flawless!

That's really strange the Domino had such aberrations. Perhaps it was a return from another purchaser?! I've seen and have nothing but first-rate quality on all Taichung models. So, this is baffling indeed!

No it was still sealed when I got it. So the box and knife damage was done before sealing the Spyderco box.

It's really weird. None of my other Spyderco's and even my Byrd had this. They are all fine.

Personally, I'm a huge fan of anything coming out of the Thaichung, Taiwan factory. In my opinion, they're Spyderco's best designs, collaborations and highest quality products. I have nearly every current Spyderco knife from that plant.

right with you, the taiwan factory has impressed me far more than the other factories.

I don't think that would be accepted as a factory second. Not sure, but that looks like it would have been headed to the scrap bin.

It looks like someone dropped it into a garbage disposal and set it back to the dealer. These models are 100 percent inspected. Don't think it would have slipped thru.

Just my opinion but I have found that all the factories Spyderco has make good, quality knives. The country of origin doesn't matter as much as the Quality Control that Spyderco requires of the factories.

Just got the word that Heinnie Haynes is getting in touch with the UK distributor, they forward the knife + my letter to HH. Eventually you'll get it I hope.
Also they send out a inspected replacement. With a bit of luck I'll receive it this saturday.

I'm curious how this works out in the end, is it possible to keep in touch on this matter?

EDIT:
Today I received my replacement. Box was still sealed just like the first time but this time I got a perfect Domino :thumbup:
I inspected it close-up, free of any faults.
Meanwhile I also received a second hand Gayle Bradley, also in perfect condition.
Go Taichung.... :triumphant:
