Off of my Spyderco Yojimbo !!!
She was doing laundry and need to cut the tags off of a few shirts and grabbed my knife from my pants pocket to cut them. Apparently she laid the knife down without closing it and drug something across the counter and knocked my knife into the tile floor breaking the tip off.
First off at least it didn't go into her foot.
Secondly while I'm a little upset I'm more disappointed in the tip breaking as it did. I didn't see it fall but I can't find any damage on a tile and a good 1/4" is broken clean off !
Hopefully it can be salvaged.

Sent via telegraph with the same fingers I use to sip whiskey.

I've messaged Charlie and am gonna take him up on his offer, I appreciate his offer to do the work and Blues offer to cover shipping. I'll take care of shipping but what I do want is suggestions on the grind. As long as the tip of the spine falls below the scales when closed I'm open to suggestions. The community came together to make this repair happen, I want the communities input on the final product.

As far as I know, I don't think S30 V is supposed to be THAT brittle. Could be a defect in heat treatment maybe?

How narrow was the tip?

I'd be surprised if a thin hollow ground S30v blade tip didn't break off when you dropped it on tiles. Best to avoid doing that. ;)

Rat beat me to it.
Extremely thin at the tip. Hollow ground plus the fact that the Yoji has got a little weight to it. So if it landed just right, it obviously did, the tip can definitely break off.
Be thankful the Mrs isn't limping right about now brother!!! This'll teach her to close the knife before putting it down!!

If you're not comfy doing the repair....hit Josh, at RE up!!
He'll hook you up!

That happened to a PM2 in s30v I had but not as bad as yours. I repaired mine

I'd just ask Spyderco and see what, if anything they can do? Couldn't
hurt to ask.

Forgive the awful line, I did it quickly on my phone, but it can be reground back to the red line to fix the blade. You'll lose a little length, but if done correctly no one will be able to tell without laying it next to another knife.

My books are closed at the moment, but I'm sure you can find someone in the custom shoppe here on the forum to fix it. Josh at Razor Edge Knives comes to mind.

I got you covered. I'll regrind it for free (plus 10 for shipping).

That's what I'd do with the red line T.L.E

CM that's a great offer.

I see a modified Tanto in your future. You are mostly there. See Southern Grind Modified Tanto for reference!

That would be stronger. Great idea!

My gosh, this year is off to a great start...thanks to some of our wonderful members here.

Yep go with any of the offers, spyderco will only offer you a discount on another, which will come out to more than a new one costs from amazon... ask me how I know.
