and now i get it. and i got it. the BK17. WIP.

those look nice. What did you use to finish it? I don't see any loose fibers

the burlap is saturated in fiberglass resin. after it sets, there should not be any loose fibers. if there are, then not enough fiberglass resin was used. been there, done that.

with that said, regarding finishing....WD-40 was used during the sanding process. i then washed the handle in hot, soapy water. i then rubbed bees wax on it to protect it a bit, and makes it "sticky.'

did that answer your question?

Kinda looks like what has been sold as "barbwire micarta", factory material that also uses burlap as its base. Can't find it anymore, but I did use some for a Spyderco Mule.

agreed. i have seen some makers use the burlap based micarta, which is part of the reason why i tried it. mostly though, i was just looking for light-colored material at the fabric shop. the burlap was the perfect color (for me), so i decided to give it a shot.

Nice Todd,Love the burlap,I might have to get myself a Becker & give it a try.
