Well, you guys were right. It only took me a few days after getting my BK-16, to become somewhat obsessed and looking at another Becker blade to pair with it. I honestly thought I could get away with just the BK-16. I actually could, if I ever truly needed to.

As of now, I'm looking at the:

BK-4

BK-9

BK-7

Do you guys have any suggestions? Other ones that I haven't listed that might pair well with the BK-16?

I still haven't gotten a 4, so I'll recommend that (so I can live vicariously through you)....but everybody should have a 9.
I've grown somewhat disenchanted with the 7, honestly - not quite big enough to do big knife jobs well, not quite small enough to accel at small knife jobs. Sure, one can use it for both, and I used to do so...but now I'm much more likely to grab what I perceive as the right tool for the job. (OMG - I'm turning into my grandfather!! :D)

I've come to like the 15 and 24 quite a bit, as well; but, if you're looking for a big knife to accompany your 16, you might want to think toward the coming Becker Reinhardt Kukri

Just go ahead and get all three. You know you want them. I can see the gleam in your keyboard's little soul.

"You can't not have a 9" - bigghoss

I don't care for the 4. Maybe if I needed a dedicated chopper. Maybe.

Luv my 15 and it goes well with the 16.

But you might consider an 11/14/24.

Yep the bug has a hold of you. I do like the 15. Personally my next purchase is more than likely a 24 or 9.

I love the 4. It's a very unique tool. The 9 is a better chopper in my opinion, (more of a learning curve with the 4) but the 4 is just too damn cool, and fun to use.

I Really like my 4. It can chop, act as a draw knife, you can choke up to the spine behind the belly and use the tip for more detailed work if you don't have a smaller knife handy, it hikes easier than a 9 due to it being lighter but has more forward weight so it is a more effective chopper.

Plus, it looks unique and you get a dangler. Just cut the D-ring and replace it with a snap ring. Now you have a Becker dangler for Any other Becker you have and will own.

Out of the listed knives, the 4 has my vote.

As mentioned above. ..the 4 is a very versatile blade.
So essential 9 & versatile 4.

I've been looking for a Machete/Kukri type of blade. I love the thickness of the blade and every review I've read has said that its truly a beast. So, I'm really leaning towards the #4.

Buuuut...I do love a good bowie/clip-point style as well. I'm honestly torn, haha.

Although, I have been looking at Axes lately, so having a Council Tools Bad Axe strapped to my pack might negate the need for a 4. Man...these blades are addicting.

You could just *gasp* wait for the release of the kurki. From the preview thread, it can't be long before it's general availability. And from what they're previewing, it'll be amazing!

My 9 is my favorite becker, so that has my vote. I'm not a big fan of recurves and I don't own a 4 although I know they are very well liked. A 7 might not be a big enough contrast to your 16 if you plan on doing a lot of "big knife" stuff. My 9 and 16 is my favorite knife combination!

I have never played with a 4, but was super impressed that a 9 could chop as well as all of my hatchets and Hawks. I haven't tried to throw it like I so Hawks, but it is still wicked fun. I also just paired it with an 11 and most recently a 16. Pretty nice trio of you never were to purchase anything else again. Then again, I'm already looking for what to do with each of them for mods and my next Bk.

BK4. If you get that you will have my 2 favorite Beckers (4 and 16). I also have a 2, 9, 11, and 15. They're all good but the 4 and 16 are great.

Stay away from the 7, IMO, for reasons already listed. 4 or 9, it doesn't matter....you WILL eventually have them both. I prefer the 4 for versatility, the 9 for pure beastliness. The vast majority of us end up with both. Plus some other Beckers we're not even discussing in this thread. It's not like I make a sh!tload of money, but any money spent on Beckers is worth it, IMO. Great value and an absolute blast to use; each with it's own strengths and weaknesses(!)....all of them money well spent and easily recoverable if you get one that doesn't float your boat in some way or another. Pick one and go for it. If only relationships were this easy: very little monetary investment to get started, and easy to get back if it doesn't suit your needs....or you can just "tweak" it a bit:

It's like in history class when I envisioned myself in the shoes of historical figures. I this case, if I envisioned myself as a Roman Legionaire, I would opt for the 9. If I envisioned myself as a Nepalese Gurkha, I would opt for the 4. On the topic of knives not discussed, if I was feeling like a Samurai, it would be the 5. (I know it is not a true Tanto, but it's close! For us G.I. Joe's the 7 seems to fit the bill, that one is a fighter. :D)
