And still no one cares...

...Last time I was in a Home Depot, the guy had a non- lockout,
auto-retracting
razor knife, for 'safety'
Only type allowed, he said.

I don't think that's a bad idea at all...

They just need to cut plastic wraps, pallet straps and packaging tape... Is not that they are breaking down carboard boxes the while day!

Haven't been posting much lately; new job with lots of hours.

Had to buy new boring things for it, like a smaller bag to carry stuff in that would fit in the unbelievably tiny lockers they provide (like really, really tiny...even smaller than you are picturing now).

So where does the knife content come it?
Well, had to pick up mail (a package) on the way to work, and the box the stuff came in was way too big to fit in the tiny lockers, even with nothing else in it, so a knife was required to open it up and dispose of the packaging. This was done in a McDonald's, around lunchtime, and the place was packed with teenagers from the nearby high school on their lunch.

And no one cared about a knife being used, despite being in plain view, in a public place, because it was being used for something. :)

This has been your daily public service announcement regarding the internet rumours about hordes of "sheeple." If you are receiving negative knife attention, it may not be about the knife; it may be about you. :D

Are you sure they're not all just too preoccupied with the overwhelming grief of being Canadian to notice your knife?:D:p

Alot of times when I am using my knife in public to open up a box or something I don’t even open it the whole way. I just open the blade about 1/4-1/3 of the way open and slice open whatever needs to be slit.

Most people seem too caught up in their own business to even notice; particularly when there is no sound of a knife locking open to cause a reflexive look in my direction.

I know can you believe I am not the centre of their attention?! How rude the public is.

Here's hoping. :D

There was one time I was out camping with my brother, and we heard a bunch of coyotes howling. I told him "I hope they come here; we can spear one and cook it over the fire!" All of a sudden, the night was silent. :)

Maybe that's why evidence of Sasquatch is so hard to come by...they are delicious, and know that we'll eat them all if we find out where they are.

They had already been hunted to extinction in prehistory for their delicious meat.

Yes, I suppose it should keep the careless finger/hand slices down,
as well as leaving the blade locked out, adding more potential accidents to happen.

Could just be that they are teenagers. :D
Although teenagers often look around to see who they can judge...hmmmm...self preoccupation at war with the urge to judge others... ;)

Or perhaps my cane provides the "Cloak of Being Old", which hides all my actions from their eyes.

So could teaching knife safety and use. I think its silly to expect the knife to attemt to automatically try to protect me from injury, which also breeds complacency.
If they are too dumb or regularly clumsy to use a potentially harmful tool, then maybe they need to find another job like sweeping the floor, cleaning a toilet, or operating a register.

:) About the only occasion I have these days to use one of my folders in public is at the local Walmart somewhat super center .

Sometimes , I have the incredible audacity to actually want to examine the contents of a clamshell package BEFORE purchasing . Or to try on shoes that are diabolically tied together so as to faceplant you into the floor . Or stapled / zip tied gloves , etc .

It's nearly impossible to attract any help or attention from store personnel , short of trying to charge out the door with a purloined big screen TV . Or building a huge bonfire in the sporting goods section .

Other customers have never taken any notice . It's a very rural middle USA , hunting and fishing , basket of deplorables kinda area .:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Teenagers generally have eyes only for their electronics , even here !
