And the Buck of the Month is....

This was supposed to be a light-hearted thread.

In regards to the first few responses, my desire to have a 119 in magnacut in no way implies anything negative about 420hc. The whole point of the BotM program is sprint runs released using abnormal materials.

Let's take this a different direction, what Buck of the Month would you like to see? I almost picked up the 119 in 3v but let it pass.

Something like this 107 Scout:

Buck knives design and marketing seems mostly directed towards hunters and ranchers. I think a sheepsfoot blade would appeal to a lot of people in the trades, myself included.

I have some Buck Spitfires and a couple of Spydercos. Can't we all just get along?😀. Every BOTM Buck makes isn't a homerun for everyone. I passed on this month's offering because Spitfires are offered in 1000s of combinations and adding just another variation to the mix didn't do anything for me. Plus my imagination had me thinking of wonderful things and the Spitfire was a big letdown in my mind. As I said in the other forum, it reminds me of the Simpsons episode where they introduced a new Malibu Stacy and it was just the old one,but with a new hat. I think Buck might be really busy right now trying to supply their new introduction pieces and just gave themselves a breather by making a very incremental, easy for them to do, offering.

Edit: Plus, even though I would like it, not every BOTM can be a 112.

I’d love a Buck 101 in 5160 with Ebony scales & brass.

They didn't produce those for a long enough period, in my opinion. However, I reckon that's because of folks like me who didn't grab one or two when we had the chance.

My vote is another for a 124 in 3V...although maybe not coated like the one mentioned above.

You love Buck, that’s neat. I like them too. However a con’s a con. If it’s still such a great heat treat, you’d still see custom knives advertising Paul Bos heat treat and makers still paying the little bit extra for the Bos mark. IIIRC a Paul Bos heat treat used to be directly supervised by Paul Bos.

This logic from you, as usual, is poor.

Also, today is the day I learned that a company who's been operating for decades forgets entirely how to do the job they're known for the day the guy who's name is on the door retires.

Also, you don't strike me as someone who buys many customs, so how do you know who's doing heat treats for who these days? Is that your sole measure of understanding, a stamp on the blade? 🤣

I go to shows. I talk to makers. The Bos heat treat used to be a discriminator makers bragged about. I own a Bump with Bos heat treat and Bos mark.

I think you are talking about the ann&tim show at CRK in your second senntence. But they “disappeared” their guru, we know where the Bucks are :)

However this is a Buck thread. Maybe Paul Bos did come in to develop the secret recipe for S45N as is implied in the ad copy, but then why doesn’t it state that directly?
