And The Snark Goes On

Never been much of a gamer myself. Never had a Playstation, or any of that stuff. My parents bought us an Intellivision when were young, and I liked it then, but lost interest as I got older.

I remember when I was little my brother got a Nintendo 64 and I was hooked, a few years later we got a ps2 and I never looked back

We've just been talking about you for four weeks.

What the... ? You made me promise we weren't going to tell him about that :grumpy:

I like the graduation from right to left. The bigger the knife, the more space between it and the one adjacent to it. Also, the two pics of the same knives make a good visual effect. Great photo!

Thanks! I used to pretend to be some sort of graphic artist, and spent a few years in the printing industry cropping/laying out images/plates/etc. The basics of that are really not that difficult ;)

ETA I mean ummm yeah, I are a genius. Clearly, no average dumb redneck knifemaker would ever think to pound some knives into a log like that and snap a pic of them... that took weeks of preparation and editing.

Yes, It was obvious that the elements of graphic design were present in that image. And you used the best tools that Starrett makes to lay everything out. All kidding aside, I really do like that image.

I haven't been here in awhile. Apologies. Been busy with the new job, and trying to get outdoors a lot more. Having a much less sedentary lifestyle makes it hard to sit and fiddle on the computer for longer than a few minutes at a time anymore. On the plus side, I have been to a buttload of new trails in this area, and even some of the rivers, and our last trip pretty much ensured that we are going to be getting kayaks sooner rather than later.

So, that all said, what's been happening?

Oh, hey D. That explains the smell... :D

Found a whole trail system just outside out town that wonders through a series of canyons. It's like 90 degrees outside but I went out anyway for about an hour.

This guy got pretty close and was circling overhead and was screeching pretty loud along with another off in the distance. Probably didn't like me being around.

It's pretty neat. I sure didn't feel like hiking down into any of those canyons just to have to hike out again later but I found two trail spurs that went out onto the tip of a ridge so I got some pretty good views of the area.

The Nemo Helios arrived. Tested it out at home and I have to say, I'm impressed. Takes up very little space when it's packed, holds plenty of water for a quick shower and the pressurizing foot pump really works. Highly recommended.

Looks like a blast. Worth the 90° heat.

Those do look nice. As long, that is, you don't mind a cold shower, haha.

LOL! So true! But seriously, we just boil a couple of litres of water on our MSR Reactor and pour them into the water chamber which is full of room temp water. It's always seemed to work in the past, but I agree, it's hard to easily increase the temps during mid-shower.

Have you decided on the shower system for your new place? BTW, it looks great!

Agreed! Where the heck is that?

It's the Arkansas Point trail system. It's immediately south of Lake Pueblo on the outskirts of Pueblo, Colorado. Lake Pueblo is a big reservoir on the Arkansas river and you can see it in one of the pics. It's about a 15 minuet drive from my apartment, but I'm on the east side of town. It's maybe 5 minuets from the city limits.

If you stay up on top the breeze helps counteract the heat. But to get the cool views I had to take Rollercoaster trail. Guess why they call it that...

It's hard to tell but that bottom pic is taken from the tip of a ridge overlooking the canyon. I'm about level with the top of the cliff on the far side but the ground slopes off pretty steep right there too with lots of loose rocks so I didn't want to get any closer to the edge.

My son and his friends recently returned form rock climbing in the Shawnee National Forest. His buddy has the Nemo, and he was talking about how awesome it is. They are cool, for sure. I'll probably end up getting the Zodi eventually. I may at some point, get a propane on demand water heater. Who knows. Not gonna worry about it for awhile to be honest. At some point, I'll probably get a well, and electric hooked up. That'll be down the road though.

Anyone else own the Manix2 lightweight. I picked up one in a trade and I have to say I'm not that impressed. The only other Spydie I have handled is a Tenacious and I think I like the feel of that one better. I love the ball-bearing lockup and how smooth the manix is but the handle feels too light and cheap to me. I like the g10 scales and steel liners of the tenacious better-it feels more stout

One of my friends commented on FB that the area I was hiking today looks a lot like the Columbia River Basin which forms the border between Oregon and Washington. I have to agree they look somewhat similar. Here's a few shots I took right along the Columbia before I moved to Colorado.

It was 90+ degrees that day too but that trail was groomed and flat so it was easy going.
