And The Snark Goes On

Anyone else own the Manix2 lightweight. I picked up one in a trade and I have to say I'm not that impressed. The only other Spydie I have handled is a Tenacious and I think I like the feel of that one better. I love the ball-bearing lockup and how smooth the manix is but the handle feels too light and cheap to me. I like the g10 scales and steel liners of the tenacious better-it feels more stout

I have one and a tenacious and I like it way more, it's one of my favorite knives, not a huge fan of the bd-1 steel but it performs well, I love the looks and ergos as well

My son and his friends recently returned form rock climbing in the Shawnee National Forest. His buddy has the Nemo, and he was talking about how awesome it is. They are cool, for sure. I'll probably end up getting the Zodi eventually. I may at some point, get a propane on demand water heater. Who knows. Not gonna worry about it for awhile to be honest. At some point, I'll probably get a well, and electric hooked up. That'll be down the road though.

Yeah, the Zodi would probably make more sense at your place.

Was you son bouldering or doing routes? The sandstone over there is incredible!

A little of both. This was his first time. He's really getting into though. My son is moving to Denver next month. He's really looking forward to climbing there. His friend is who got him into it. He has all the equipment, but my son is just getting started. His buddy used to live down town Springfield. He got my son to rappel down the side of a 5 story building, haha. He got harnessed up, was told what to do, and pretty much just jumped over the edge, and went right down no problem. Got him hooked.

Very cool. Colorado has a lot of great climbing. That said, we've fallen in love (since 1991) with the climbing in West Virginia, Kentucky and Tennessee. And Southern Illinois has some incredible bouldering. In fact there's a climbing hold company based there called So Ill!

They were initially gonna go to Elephant Rock State Park in Missouri to go bouldering, but decided to go to Jackson Falls in the Shawnee. https://www.google.com/search?q=jac...SvyATRgIL4BQ&ved=0CAoQ_AUoAw&biw=1600&bih=711

I think it's cool, but I'm way too big and old for that crap now, haha. When I was younger, no problem. Well, I think anyways...

This is my son climbing at Jackson Falls:

I have one and I like it, even tho the handle is cheap...but that's what makes it lightweight. The Tenacious is nice, too, but the regular Manix2 (not surprisingly) beats them both hands down. But the Lightweight is nice and sharp (and flat ground, unlike the G-10 Manix2) and doesn't pull your pants down. If you like the ergos but not the handle, ditch it and get the regular g-10 Manix2.

If you haven't seen the Beckerhead shirts thread here's the link to order yours. This round is getting ordered this coming Wednesday.

Made some ribs for dinner. Sided with the "sex" potatoes and portabello's. Awesomeness

Heading out to Colorado for some camping with the family tomorrow. If there's any service where we land, I'll probably check in from time to time. Otherwise see y'all in two weeks.

Have a great time man. Always good to get away. Don't worry about getting service. Go camping to get away from all that. ;)

In fact... Don't check in! Enjoy your time out there, but remember when you get back that we need pictures.

Probably would be best if I did stay completely off, but given the level of electronic conditioning/addiction in my world, it might be a challenge.

Had a good hike with the young'uns this afternoon. We are a Camelbak family.

In other news, Blue Bell banana pudding ice cream is the bomb.

Cute pic and excellent color coordination between the outfits and the Camelbaks.

Y'all have Blue Bell in Tennessee now? The little creamery has certainly grown. When I was in school in Kentucky, a friend of mine and I brought half-gallons under dry ice back for the wives when we made a return trip to Texas without them.

The wife and I just got back not long ago from being wined and dined by the boss at of the nicer steakhouses in town.... Just sitting back on the balcony now enjoying the evening with a bit of a nightcap and a BK10.
