I know in this country there is a highly pushed arms race with much money at stake for struggling gun companies....

And Rambo ads pushing things, likewise the knife industry....

But there would be far fewer normal muggings, beatings, robberies of other sorts, B&E, and plain bullying, did more law abiding citizens train even slightly at home with, and carry, a nice little cane or stick...

And save the firearms for when things start out with such or escalate to such....

Meanwhile, the vast majority of criminally minded who are essentially lazy and cowards would be suppressed by the fear of a humiliating drubbing....
 
At least mine are usually padded so at least there's some comfort there for what it's worth.

Did you see the previous newer one?.....the newer seems geared to exhibition as well as competition where they are allowed to adapt more showboat Japanese "ninja" moves.....

In my competition history, the showboating is part of the headgames suchlike "let me adjust my gi and then destroy you".....and it might be the newer video shows same guy in white over 10 yrs later and go from loser to top dawg in his prime now before a younger guy comes along....

The more i think about it, the more i would like to take that back.....we crotchety old farts need to be gotten clear of after short doses....if not, the younger start to get impatient and uppity, and then we elders always end up teaching them to respect their betters, if not their elders....so i would hate to do that to you although humility is a good thing in one's inferiors....

To which i should add the very serious problem of sexual assaults...so many things such a guns, knives, kubotans have been recommended....now all of the above are banned on mass transit, government buildings, schools, places of worship, etc...while a humble sound stick can go everywhere....i DO see some signs of common sense such as women taking a stroll with a bit of broomstick against dogs, but if they instead decided a stout bent hickory crook was a valuable fashion accessory, and had part of their women's clubs time for 10 mins slow exercise with their canes, they would be MUCH safer.
 
Now there's a good idea that'd make a ton of money... Women's "fashion" walking sticks. Cold Steel could just make their existing clubs out of pink plastic and make a killing.

Back in ye olden days women would put thick long hat pins in their hair that could and were used as defensive weapons.
 
Women's fashion canes in all manner of pretty colors and assembly including small flower arrangements on them already exist....unfortunately more among the wealthy at races and tea and biscuits set....i could not carry that Cold Steel polypropylene fake blackthorn cudgel staff anywhere without it being taken away, i am fairly sure......it strikes me more as a challenge to any viewer....law enforcement or opposite end of spectrum....it seems to ask for trouble....strutting around with a giant "nightstick".

Back years ago they bought imported blackthorn and resold....then claimed it basically extinct (not even close to true) and started selling plastic....probably too many complaints what folk received did not match even remotely what was pictured...and much higher profit margin on plastic...
 
my crop of guard snails has matured and stand ready to defend the castle against all comers.
even the dire wolves steer clear of them. they are my 1st armoured cavalry regiment.

while they are a tad small & slow, they are inexorable and vicious. and there are thousands of them :)
 
Argh....i've been slimed!....

Almost as bad as an old friend's toothless old bulldog which he said would gum people to death...
 
had a friend with an old almost toothless akita, it had arthritis so bad it could hardly move, was going blind, and was obviously approaching the end of it's days. it wanted only to lie in the sun in the back yard and watch his master's young baby play with the ball he could no longer chase himself, knowing his master was just inside the kitchen door watching over them himself.

one day two agressive, almost feral, german shepherds escaped from a yard further up the road where their owner had kept them and mistreated them, and jumped the fence into the akita's yard, and went snarling straight for the child, before his master had time to react.

the akita killed both of them before they could get close to the child.

don't count out us old folks.

(p.s. - a true story.)
