Andrew Demko Custom AD-10 - Carbon Fiber in ELMAX

Demko's have grown more and more on me. after seeing your pics, i think i understand what makes Demko's great knives. it looks like a beast and yet there is so much time and effort spent on the fit and finish.

does his lockbacks have a heavy duty spring? i am just wondering how well the knife will flick open. i could see the massive blade having a lot of inertia to assist in the deployment and lock up. and i hope the tri-ad lock makes a loud locking sound when it gets deployed. but i have had some stiff lockbacks that have a lot of drag and friction resulting in slow deployment.

Demko seriously isnt taking orders for folders anymore? how do you see a list of his available models, i dont want to hassle him with emails when i am just browsin'.

Demko made mine pretty much to my request. His "standard" model seems to be the AD10. He said CS limits him to a certain number of knives he can make per year with the Tri-Ad lock. He can still do a bitchin framelock though. You can always buy a Cold Steel Tri-Ad model and have it tricked out with a re-blade and whatever.

Oh now that's a bummer. I feel like they (Demko and CS) serve different markets in the knife industry. Don't really understand why Demko should be limited by them. Then again, what do I know?

Beautiful knife! This may be a dumb question, but what's the purpose of that assembly on the tail and the hole in front of the choil?

You can see how deep the stop pin sits in the blade tang and that's why the tri-ad is so strong. Even my normal spartan is like that too. You can see the thickness of it.

The hole in the front is so a pin can be made if needed, and it's the design of the knife, the hole in the back is the lanyard hole.

The Spring is heavy duty, but the action is extremely smooth so it will flick open very well, you would have to hold one to understand how smooth and well designed these knives really are.

It's nothing like the Production CS Tri-Ads, two different worlds here.

I often wondered about the opening on his customs. I'm not a big fan of how difficult the American Lawman is to open. I can't friggin' wait to get mine later in the year. Orange G-10; gonna be awesome!!!:)

It will blow your mind how well designed these knives really are and once you pickup your jaw off the ground you will understand. :D

You can always tell the guys with Demkos, they are the ones walking around with big grins on their faces. :)

Orange, looks like you won't have trouble finding it. :D

Jim, great job on your videos. I'm new to knife collecting. I find your videos very helpful and educational. I just ordered my first true folder, Benchmade 710 McHenry & Williams base on your reviews. Can't wait for it to come. I saw your review on your first Demko Custom, it looks incredible as does the new one.

Thanks for the comments. :)

I have the exact same knife on order to be ready late summer or so except with 0.1" liners and a deep carry pocket clip. Your pics make me think maybe 0.1" is overkill though for liners; I mean how much extra strength could it really add? Did you have to ask for that grind/profile specifically or is that just standard these days? That is a very XM18 like spine grind and I like it A LOT!! Sweet knife.

It could add a lot, but I am not sure it's needed, but then it's your knife. :)

Just tell Andrew what you want. :D

Like Ankerson mentioned "2 different worlds." I don't know how Andrew does it but he does it in spades. I bugged the h*ll out of Jim after ordering mine and he kept assuring me that the thing was like butter, but I never 100% believed until I got mine. I did get the 4" blade which would further the inertia of flipping it once you start the blade in motion. I'd get about 1/4" open and roll my wrist and SNAP out comes this gigantic zombie killing blade! :D
