Angle grinder troubles

Thank you elementfe for verifying that just because a person has done it for years does not make it safe...or protect you from bad things happening. I'm sorry you got hurt, but glad you shared the warning.

I really get riled when someone posts, " All this scare tactic stuff about buffers and angle grinders is a load of hooey, I have used a buffer and an angle grinder for years and never had a problem." .....Tell that to elementfe!

I will reiterate:
Angle grinders are made for grinding, and with a proper cutting wheel, for cutting bar and round stock into pieces. It is NOT intended to profile a knife blade or to shape bevels. Rock solid clamping is a MUST! Exploding blades and grinders that catch and jump can cause severe injury.

BTW, cutting pipe with a cut off wheel has to be very carefully done to avoid pinching and one of the above problems happening.

This appeared on the Welding Web forum this week.

Those $10 face shields are a good thing

but maybe the CCC Harbour freight wheels are not.
