Just to put this to rest, I don't feel that I "deserve" anything more than the next guy just because I maintain these forums. I get enough satisfaction making sure that everyone get's what they are looking for and by having a well run site, because that reflects well on me. I don't ask for any special favors or consideration, I don't want any special treatment, and I sure don't want a cookie or gold star for my acheivements.

I put my entry in to the contest because I felt it was an appropriate name. I didn't expect to win, and I feel Allen did a truly honorable thing in making sure that Stompy and I both received a knife. But, if Allen said, "Ok, Stompy gets it, Sorry Spark, look harder next time" I would have been just as happy with the results.

So, in summation, I am still your humble webmaster and site administrator. Don't treat me any better or worse than anyone else on these forums, and we'll get along great. I won't turn down free stuff (I'm not stupid), but I'm not giving out special favors or expecting special treatment, yadda yadda yadda.

Your obs'vnt servant,

Spark

Spark,

What problems are you sensing? I certainly don't want to attempt to argue with acensor about anything. That would be unprudent, in any case.

Janus is a great name! Named after a god. You can capture the religious market. The god of begining and ending. Begining, the knife being one of the first tools. Ending, you can end things with a knife, i.e. life, etc.. Janus in the spoken language covers those who are knowledgable in Roman Mythology and will know of the god and you will be able to also cover the feminine market because some will think of it as "Janice", the feminine name. You might even get a few Swedes to buy a knife for which they could say, "Ja, nice knife!"

Jedi Knife, contact me via email and we will discuss this. You seem to have some mistaken impressions as to what my position is, and what my job responsibilities are.

Congrats to Spark and Stompy,

And thanks to Allen Elishewitz and Pat Crawford for the contest.

Stay safe and all the best, Phil <----<

Look for the "Adventures of Spark and Stompy" in next week's Sunday comic section as our lucky and intrepid heroes rescue damsels in distress, perform amazing feats of edged tours de force, and wield their matching Janus customs perserving Life,Liberty and Happiness in the Land Of Quench.

Congrats to Spark and Stompy! I had some of the same concerns above, namely how coincidental it was that Spark won the contest out of all those names, and the fact that Spark is also a BF administrator. While this wasn't a Bladeforums contest, it seems to me that even so, it would be smartest for BF personnel to not take part in this sort of thing. it would sort of be like if McDonald's ran a Coca-Cola promotion through its stores and a McD's executive would win the grand prize. Not that Spark had no right to win, but obviously it was suspect to some question about how he won and how his name was picked. In order to avoid confusion and accusation in the future, perhaps there should be a rule among the BF personnel to not take part in the contests that are held here? i don't know if that's fair, but it may be better for overall morale, you know?
Also, it would've helped to have more specific instructions (i.e. one submission per person), but I guess who could forsee people coming up with several names, much less a huge list? Anyway, I guess if nothing else these things raise questions for people who want to run future contests. Food for thought...

Congrats to you too Stompy!

Thanks Allen and Pat - you have done well!

Hmmmmm, I still like Professor's Chickenbiscuit.

Congrats Spark and Stompy!
You both deserve to win (even though my names were better). And kudos to Mr. Elishewitz for showing some class. By the way, Spark should get a chance just like anyone else, the contest was not by BladeForums, just on BF.

Chickenbiscuit? The Roman God of Gravy?

Ok, folks so as to settle this matter I suggest that you give the knife to me as I was the third poster to suggest Janus.

Here's my post:

...I would support the suggested name "JANUS". I like the twin concept of naming the collaboration knife between Allen and Pat; also, the twin can denote dual purpose: utility and defense. Janus is also the root word for this month (June), the month we give name to their knife.

(I edited this post as Juno is the Roman god's name where June came from, but the edit was not posted.)

Just kidding! I'm tickled pink that I also chose the same name, albeit late.

Congrats to Spark and Stompy!

I think next time each contestant should only submit one name and state why he/she suggested that name.

Anyway, can I at least have a shirt as a consolation prize?

Now that everyone is happy
Congratulations to Spark and Stompy. I sure would of not like seeing Stompy stomping Spark's wide load posterior for a knife with a 2 faced god's name! Oh my this is so much fun and I enjoy this too much.

Have fun guys and again congrats to both of you. I actually had to go back a read the post because I really did not think Spark had the name. There were four finalists that I did a trademark search on and I am sorry the "chikeninbiscut" was not one of them.

I did do a trademark searh for it though and Allen and Pat should feel free to use it for as I could not find a match, much to my disbelief

I was certain Gerber had that somewhere.....

Allen -- out of curiosity, I'm sure a lot of us who sent in names would be interested to know the four finalists Mike did a TM search on; I don't think it would be a problem to show them to us. Please?

CONGRATS to Spark and Stompy, you are both very deserving. Also a big thanks to Allen Elishewitz and Pat Crawford for sponsoring this contest, it was fun (even though I should have won).

CONGRATS! Stompy and Spark! Geez, when I was reading through the original thread I scratched my head once when I saw Stompy's post, thinking to myself, "where in the world did he get all those names." Then I scratched my head again when I came apon Professor's post thinking to myself, "how did he come up with such a great name!"

BTW, I believe that Elishewitz and Crawford picked the knife name from an un-biased list as Elishewitz noted, and I believe that NO foul play, partialty, or cheating was involved. That kind of thing should not even be suspected.
Furthermore, I realize that my list was a bit long-winded but that I did not cheat, and in future contests, I will only submit one name or number or what-not if specified.
Please, no hard feelings!
