Announcing the NEW 1500-181 Cigar Cutter!

In regards to the pricing~ I’m sorry but if you’re complaining about the prictag then it’s not for you. This is a collectors item and it’s marketed at a specific type of individual. This isn’t a product that’s intended to bring in mass amounts of revenue. Benchmade is a family owned company still and I don’t see anything wrong with making something nice just for the hell of doing it. You can say that Benchmade is out of their minds but the reality is that every single one of these will sell and they’ll end up selling for even more on the secondary collectors market.

AKA, some folks have more money than brains. o_O

Welcome back to BF! ;)

ETA - I saw this posted elsewhere first, and I hate to say it, but my first thought was that this was an old Blade HQ April Fool's joke. That, in and of itself, says something about the absurdity of the price tag.

I don’t smoke and I don’t have 1K to spend on something like this, but I was STILL gonna get one. Then I saw that they weren’t using M4 for the blade. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING!!

Seriously though, I love that Benchmade would make something like a Bugout — a sweet little knife for everyone — then come up with something like a Gold Class cigar cutter. Doing stuff like this keeps the creativity flowing, and that can only be good for Benchmade and Benchmade customers.

I know someone who could buy one of these with what he makes in about 1-1.5 hours. I'm sure most of us have to put in far more time to buy $200-400 knives, I know I do, but we don't consider ourselves as people with more money than brains (well, maybe sometimes). Most people in the world can't afford a $200 knife, yet here we are; it's all relative.

People get riled up with some of these gold class items and I'm not sure why. They are above what I'd be willing to every pay for a knife or cigar cutter or whatever, but I have knives that are above what most people would even consider, and I'm sure you do too. These flagship items or whatever you want to call them are purposefully over the top to attract certain buyers as well as attention from consumers. It's like a $1000 burger or $100 milkshake etc. They won't sell many nor will they make many, but that isn't the point.

Wow...I had to check the date as well. That first line about the 30 year old scotch sounds like something from Anchorman.

These are also handy if you need to perform a circumscision in a pinch (so to speak)...

I surely won’t bother to gather the $1000 to buy this. I know there are people who will buy at the asking price. Nice materials though, maybe a budget version of this would be appreciated in the future  I like the <$100 idea.

Pretty sure it’s an open forum and people can express their opinions and thoughts about prices all they want.... soooooo!! Don’t like it move on!!!!
Of course they can. But friendly disagreement and conversation isn't an affront to free speech, it's the whole point of this forum (and what people come here for)...

I would be surprised if they didn't eventually come out with a more reasonably-priced model. I'm sort of surprised they didn't do that first.

Did anybody bother to actually research what works best for clipping cigars (double guillotine with concave blades)
