A great note and find of a piece of Busse History.

Good Work and the pay off to a bunch of effort.

A Serious one of a kind Battle Mistress.(The Wasp)

Remember I spent seven years trying to get and finally getting The Hood #18 Stay with this and eventually you will likely end up with Tom's Knife.

Maybe, Just maybe we need a "One of Three Hundred(or Earlier?) Club?

Maybe just a Straight Battle Mistress Club to see how many we can find?

Looks to be from WAY Back then, but also looks like the Fussion Butt.

Now on to some analysis:

Take a look at the swedge on that knife. It looks like the one you got from Ron, and it looks like one on an old one I had. I wonder if this is a way of aging these. I did not see this swedge on later versions. But who knows. This definitely could have been a pre-300 grind.

and here is just a comment. The fact that INFI at an Rc of 65 can survive without any issues, gives you an idea of how tough it is at 60. Also, think about how special INFI must be that with only 0.5% carbon it can still be Ht'd to 65. I do not know of another steel that can do that.

can you take some thickness measurements at the ricasso just in front of the handles, also halfway down the spine and also 2 inches from the tip?

Never had a camera to take any picks but I think there may be some floating around when it did a little traveling back in 2004:eek::eek: Jerry told me it was 1/100 at the INFI 1500 eons ago. I stopped carrying it on my LBV the next week;) It was replaced by a Basic 9 though so I still only trusted Busse.

Could be that there were more Functioning Brain cells in Jerry's Head at that point that have since Fallen Victim to the "War on Drinking"

Then again, it might just be a "Different" Sort of Straight Battle Mistress.

I looked at Bobs SHBM pic from another thread and it is indeed a 1 of 300, with the grooved handle. So you may indeed be right and maybe there was only 100 of the 300 or maybe who knows.
