Don't have it in hand right now AND my monitor's resolution really blows so not sure. BTW, that pick is BEFORE I used a 20oz framing hammer on it to beat through a 6x6 treated timber:D

what are you trying to do, turn it into a steel heart?:D

Fascinating! What a great piece of history...thanks for sharing. I remember the RC 65 thing. IIRC this had something to do with the original designation of "combat grade." Again, this is IIRC and it's a bit fuzzy, but I think it was something like combat grade meant RC 65 and field grade was more like RC 61, like today. Can anyone confirm/correct?

I thought that the combat grade was Rc 62 and the field grade was 60-61, but it's been too long and I never wrote any of that down. I don't think 65 ever made it to anything other than the test blades, but I could be wrong, who knows.

Every time I see SHBM on the title I have to respond. nothing else to say. already said it,.

I love my 1/300. I want it buried with me........ In an unmarked grave of course. What an awesome thread.

Hope a 1/300 is available for my birthday in January!!! ;)
It will need to be mint and unused so I can beat ALL it's coating off as I have my once minty B9 that is now semi serrated!!! :D

VERY cool read, and after seeing all the SHBM porn, I can't wait until the NMLBSHBM comes out (because I'm not lucky enough to get an original, or too broke, I'm not sure. I can live with only 1 kidney :D )

Man, and I didn't know flatlander's SHBM is a 1/100, I feel honored now. I got to handle it the day I picked up my first piece of INFI

Bob, I hope you're staying safe over there, and hope to see you at a 1500 sometime very soon

Your gonna have on heck of a task trying to beat all of the coating off an old SHBM. It's some really tough S%*#!!!

That old smooth coating is really some tough stuff, but EVER so occasionally I find one that flakes if you stare at it hard.......
