Cumberland knives is selling pre-orders on ebay for around $180 including shipping.

Is the 500 ONLY thing set in stone??? I was in need of cash today and had to put something up that would sell VERY fast. So much to my disappointment I sold mine. It was in my top 5 that I ever owned and don't know what I was thinking. I am going to freaking beat the heck out of myself if I can't replace it when I have funds again :(

If I didn't misunderstand there is supposed to be two more collaberations with Tom. Jeff, do you have any idea what time frame is involved for the next Buck/Mayo?

We do have our 2nd collaboration with Tom on the board set for Jan 04. That could change pending our move but current plan is to offer a less expensive version (definitely under $100 retail and how far under is still in marketing,R&D and material selection)

There won't be any additional information forthcoming for quite some time but just wanted you all to know it is coming.

Well, I just received a Buck/Mayo that I pre-ordered in January, so I think it's going to be awhile before these things get widely available.

This is the best knife I have. I'm no big knife collector... I have a Benchmade mini-AFCK, Benchmade 690, SOG XRAY Vision, Camillus Cuda-Max 5.5, Buck 110, and a number of fixed blades.

The Buck Mayo just somehow tops them all. The bead blast on the titanium scales is superb. I know that sounds stupid, but you have to see it. It's also the sharpest out-of-the-box I've seen.

Nobody else has mentioned that it ships with a fairly nice presentation case.

The blade itself is more beautiful than any photo has indicated. It is very light weight. For the length of blade, it has a short body so it pockets nicely. It's actually very similar to the Benchmade 690 in terms of carry, but is much thinner. My only negative observation is that closed, the blade angles towards one scale, that is, not centered. Not worth sending back, but it surprised me.

In short, from this new-bee, best knife I have!

Now, let PCKS give me a thumbstud option on the 110, damnit!

Make up for the fact that "the blade angles towards one scale, that is, (it's) not centered"...?

Being that I may want to buy one of these eventually, I'd like to know...

Can you be more specific about the presentation case your knife came with? Mine was shipped in the standard Buck box and if there is a case available I'd be interested to see if I can get one.

Thanks !!!

I'm not sure about the timelines on any new Buck/Mayo Models.

Dan,
The earliest ones were shipped with our normal box. The ones after that started to come with a black fitted box with Buck/Mayo logo on it. I've only seen one of them a few weeks ago, so not sure on details. I'm sure Joe will take care of ya.

There are two reasons why the blade will push over when closed. 1. The force of the linerlock pressing on blade. 2. We handsanded the chamfer of the blade with more material removed at the tip on one side. Causing the tip to be off center. Early on I took this as a function of Item 1. We have put in measures to prevent the issue.

All in all, the production process is coming together nicely.

Jeff....

For the record.... I WILL quote you to Joe when I email him about the Black Box for my Buck/Mayo. I am sure he will appreciate your willingness for HIM to help! :D :p

BTW - Check YOUR email!!!

are they ever going to make one with a reversible clip? I'd highly consider buying one if they did

Just thought I'd post a picture of the box I got that most of you didn't. :p :D

It is actually a pretty nice wooden box with the logos on top. The picture is very large, and doesn't show the impression in the bottom for the knife well. Be careful about putting your knife in the box though, because once you do, it is near impossible to get out!

wow-I want one..............mine came wrapped in bubble wrap.

If the knife blade leans to one side and it bothers you (It would bother me)........open the knife all the way, and hold the blade with one hand (on the top of course) and the handle in the other and GENTLY push it TOWARDS the way that it is leaning, it should resolve the problem.
