Another heads up on the Buck/Mayo

I got mine on Saturday. 4-6. It came with the nice black box too.
Interestingly, the knife was wrapped seperate and not in the box.
It looked absolutely striking when I put it in, I wish it had been there when I first saw it, I don't think t will be going back! The knife is perfect, blade centered, clip too tight.... I fixed the clip though. Really a personal preference. One little thing that I think might be nice, IMHO, of course, it's already great, but, if the finger choil was beveled a little to help slip your thumb into the opening hole, I think that would be really cool and look nice as well. I could be wrong.

Tom - thanks for the tip about centering the blade. I am anticipating the knife to be good when I get it, but not like your custom. That is, the lockbar may be pushing the blade to the side.

Frodo - Great picture, I can discern alot about the fit and finish from the macro shot.

I was one of the first to get one of these knives and I really like it. Tom, mine was leaning ever so slightly to one side and I tried what you suggested to realign it. It worked great. The blade is now perfectly centered. I continue to be impressed by the edge holding ability of this knife. This is indeed one of the best buys that I have ever made.

Tom thanks for the tip on centering the blade mine is now perfectly centered. Everything else about the knife is right on..I am also impressed at the balanced feel of the knife when opened. When the knife is open set it on your index finger in the thumb slot on the handle...it stays straight as an arrow and does not move at all...not a very scientific observation, just a way to show an excellent overall design...IMHO...(be careful if you try this that is one sharp blade)

Your advice did not work for me, but I'm probably doing it wrong. I'm not applying too much pressure, and I'm being very carefull as the blade is incredibly sharp.

I also like the blade grind... not "thick" like other tactical knives. I'll admit that I pre-ordered this knife on a whim because it looked cool, but now that I have it, it has won me over. I have a benchmade mini AFCK and 690 (which I thought was the cat's pajamas), but this Buck/Mayo is far better.

It looks great, and is ergonomic. I carry it everyday, so Tom, if you want my presentation case in exchange for an autographed photo, then let's talk <BG>!

Well, to answer my own post, I tried loosening the blade screw because the action, while smooth, was not as fast as I like it. I never could get the blade to swing easier, and I backed the screw out 2 full turns! At that point, I was afraid the screw might come all of the way out so I stopped.

But; happy side effect. At about 1/2 turn looser, the blade somehow became nearly centered!

Finally received my Buck TNT today. It's not a "real" TNT, that's for sure, but for the money a very, very nice knife.

There is one bummer though. One of the screws on the clip side of the knife is missing!
And yes, I received it in a factory sealed box. I'll call Buck on Monday and ask them if they can help me out.

But as I said other than that I really like it.
