Another "only one" post. with a slight twist!

If There could be only one, it would be This

It can handle all the batoning needs and most anything else.

I almost spit out my drink when i saw that bad boy.

I'm not talking about batonning 2" dry pine for the living room. I'm talking about batonning 3-4" frozen wood, hard woods, etc. There's a reason why there are countless hundreds of videos on BF of people batonning with their high end custom fixed blades. But I think there are zero such videos of people batonning with their Sebenza's, Emerson's, Strider's, etc. They talk a lot of talk about how they are equally confident in the strength of their folder as with a fixed blade, but for some reason they won't put any batonning videos up. I wonder why...

I'm not trying to start another endless thread about this, and nor am I trying to ruffle anyone's feathers. But darn it, at some point you have to stop with the "blah blah" and put your money where your mouth is. I'm guessing they don't dare because they know this will happen:

Now I'm not anti-folder. I carry a folder everywhere I go, and I love them. But they are not as strong mechanically as a fixed blade. It's simple physics. But there's a much easier way to convince me if you disagree: put the vid up if you believe your folder can withstand repeated batonning of hard wood.

Another "only one" thread!

Normally I'd pass on this type of topic but I can answer the question without much thought.

My one folder....drum roll....Victorinox Pioneer.

I've owned hundreds of knives of all types and the knife I use more often than any other and that I have been using for over 25 years is the Pioneer or Soldier. They are the same except the Pioneer has a hole for a anyard. I have a few Farmer models but I've never needed the saw so I'm more inclined to go without the saw. The awl is my favorite blade. I carry either the Pioneer or Soldier everyday. Jeans or tux, it's in my front right pocket.

Victorinox alox Soldier/Pioneer.

I have seen posts where folks question the strength of the thinned-out portion of the lockbar, but I've not seen one destroyed until now.

No doubt in my mind, Alox Farmer. There's not much I do in or out of the woods that I can't do with that knife.

HTM Gun Hammer. I'm gonna cruise for a custom though. At that point, obviously my answer will change to the custom Gun Hammer.

I only own two folding knives, my sebenza and my endura ffg... all the rest are otfs. so if i had to pick one folding knife it would be my sebenza.

It'd be a beefy 3" folder. Maybe my VG10 Lahar? Tough question because it asks for a folder that can act like a fixed blade, which can't exactly be done, or at least done well. I can baton my lahar if I'm careful and it isn't a big branch, but to be honest I'd just buy a hatchet if I lost all my fixed blades.

Zdp-189 endura 4 by spyderco. It's a little light saber and never gets dull, has good corrosion resistance and I love the British racing green handles with self polished clip.

Choosing only one knife out of the ones that I own, I would go with my recently acquired ZT 0300.

While it may be true that a folder may not be as strong as a fixed blade, I have full confidence that this blade would do anything I need it to do...without a doubt....and it would not let me down. To those skeptics that may say this knife is just another titanium framelock, check out the video below.

The following video is of a ZT 0301 but regardless of G10 scale and blade coating color, it is the same knife. IMHO, this is as close as a folder can get to being a fixed blade...:D

While I don't make it a habit of batoning or abusing my knives in any way, I love having the assurance of how tough the folder is that is riding in my pocket. Awesome video!!
