Another tacky "tactical" trend?

A $190.00 "tactical" 6"x1"x1/4" prybar. The things people will buy as "tactical" crack me up...

One time I was having a few beers with Chuck Norris and some guy was outside trying to break into Chuck's car with one of those. When Chuck approached, the guy raised it like a weapon and Chuck just glared at the guy until the Austrian D2 bar melted right in his hand. Then Chuck spin kicked his head off.

When I told Chuck I thought that was pretty slick he just said "If I ever want your opinion I'll beat it out of you, OK?". Then he bought a round for the bar.

I have a couple of those same 7-1/4 inch Stanley Wonder Bar II prybars. I bought the last one from Target for $2.99 and wrapped 550 paracord around it. It rides in my Maxpedition versapack.

But, I can imagine perhaps prying open a locked door or window. I don't think a six-inch bar would be much good for that.

That is what a haligan tool is for. They're everyones friends. If someone pulled one of those things out and tried to pry open a door they'd probably get laughed at. Then again haligans tools are big and not nearly as sneaky or tactical.

Oh I know, we have one in a breaching kit so I guess that actually makes it tactical by the book definition. I still don't think it'll be tactical enough till it's tigerstriped or has blood grooves.

It'd make a nice pry bar for taking the cap of non-twist-off beer bottles.

Personally I use a tactical black Bic lighter when a bottle opener isn't around.

Why do I feel that whoever buys a $190 "tactical" prybar would probably own a khaiki 5.11 vest, okley sunglasses, more surefire flashlights than you have excuses to use them, and something that shoots a NATO calber round that has mulitple accessory rails.

I forwarded the link of that friggin prybar to a few "tactical" friends of mine, and they thought it was the greatest thing since IDPA. :barf:

No, no, no. The spray paint just isn't tactical enough. You need to get some gunkote and then make a tiger striped pattern on it.

Here's a "translated" version of that page.

It's a little longer than 3", but it's still only 11" long. If the Ti and Kydex don't make it tactical I don't know what does. The same site even sells the super duper pry bars being discussed here so a high speed/low drag dude can do all of his shopping in one place.

(In defense of that site, they do have a few things I wouldn't mind having, but they're all available in this country anyway.)
