another USPS SUCKS thread

what the hell-
a rescue I sent to a buyer in phoenix did not arrive yet, and that went out on the fifteenth. this is absolutely ridiculous. who should I contact to file a complaint, my own postmaster? I would like to deal directly with a person who can DO something, and can give me a real time response.

I've had it with this sloppy service, and my reputation is at stake.

I've had short and long transit times, coming and going. Shortly after the first of the year, I sent a package to Alabama, Priority, and it took 27 days. I do have to agree with NorthStarXO. The service through USPS sucks, impatient or not, their customer service poor and unfriendly and our deliveries and satisfaction do not appear to be their priority.:thumbdn:

Well :grumpy:
here it is the 25th of february, and still the one gentleman who bought my spyderco police has not recieved it. it has been 15 days. The post office sent me an extremely vague and unhelpful email, stating that I should do certain things in order to recover this package (most of which I have already done!) The buyer seems to think that the knife has been stolen. :grumpy:

The spyderco rescue I sold may or may not have arrived yet but having not heard from the buyer, and knowing that the byrd caracara I sent out the same day to the same area is already there, I doubt that it did.

just an update.

The police was insured so I'll see if the buyer can file a claim to recover the cost of the item. if not, I suppose I'll be refunding him, and taking this one in the a**:thumbdn:

USPS does not offer tracking in the sense that UPS does, but when the system works correctly it provides useful information. On my last purchase, it worked perfectly: it told me when and from where the package was shipped, when the package arrived at the local post office, and when the package was delivered. The problem is that sometimes USPS doesn't provide any information at all until after the package has been delivered. In other words, it's useful to know when an item has been shipped, and when it arrives at the local PO, so you have an idea of when it will be delivered.

Good point. The problem is that USPS is inconsistent. Some post offices or clerks do not scan the label properly on receipt, so the data isn't entered into the system. I would imagine by now that every regular post office and most contract stations have the automated equipment to do this.

It certainly would add to the customer's confidence in the system.

I shipped a package out on Feb. 16 priority mail, with signature confirmation. That day, I checked the "Track and Confirm" section of their website, and it said the the package was recieved at the PO I shipped it from. To this day it has said this! There is no excuse for this. Shipping from Michigan to NY doesn't take this long. Strangely, I've also had someone tell me that they have sent me payment for an item twice, and it's never shown up. The combination of these makes the situation appear unsetteling, to say the least.

How long does express mail take if it was mailed yesterday morning?
the sender said today (3/11) by noontime. it never came. it never came with the mail delivery at 2:30 PM either. here it is, 3PM, the latest time express mail is GUARANTEED delivered by and no knife.

This is becoming ridiculous. I had a first class mail from CA arrive in 3 days. Priority mail taking over 15 to get to CA. and now, I PAID for overnight, (@$15) to avoid the long delay and did it arrive today? NO. what the fuck. this is piss poor, sloppy service, but hey, the postal rates keep going up and up.

I am so fed up with the USPS its not even funny. any time I send something or buy something, it is non-stop waiting and worrying that the package won't arrive or will be delayed. I decided to stop having things shipped to me priority to ensure that I would not have to wait for it to be delivered on their schedule, and this is what I paid for???? it is DEFINATELY not worth the 15 bucks.

OVERNIGHT means OVERNIGHT. Now I have to waste the time hunting this package down, and trying to get a refund for the $15 it cost me to have it shipped this way. absolute bullshit.

on further investigation, the package appears to be in my town as of 7:18 am this morning, and the post office closes as noon. the package, due delivered by noon, is still not here, and the people at 1800 askusps are completely useless to tell me any more than the computer can. so, this item is MIA, they have my money, and I have no knife. SO...getting something shipped express mail is again NO guarantee that it will get here on anyone's schedule but their own. ****ing waste of money that was. the moral of the story is now, don't use the postal service, they suck. unfortunately, I have NEVER had this trouble with them before, but it appears to be chronic now.

when it rains it pours-

took quite a bit for a knife i sent 3 day to get to its destination recently-
it made it :)

if this was around the holidays i would expect this -not this time of year

this was shipped express mail yesterday and is IN my town as we speak, as of 7:18 AM. unfortunately, it was never DELIVERED to my house today, making the use of express mail irrelevant. so, they got my money, wasted a whole day of mine, and I still have NO KNIFE. and there is absolutely nothing I can do about getting it today. granted, I realize it is only a knife, but what if it was something important? then I would be royally ****. so it is the principal of the matter that pisses me off. and it wouldn't have taken any extra time for the lazy assholes that work in the gloucester post office to put it in with the REGULAR mail, but they couldn't even do that. don't they have to take a test to be a postal employee? how difficult is it? or are they only ***ing with me? I don't know, I don't care, I just want my knife in the amount of time i PAID for. I work hard for my money, apparently unlike the postal employees in my town, and I expect the service I paid for. I plan on making sure someone at my post office pays for this incompetence. but it is par for the course I suppose.

by the way, it is only coming from NEW JERSEY!

Label/Receipt Number: ER55 0529 678U S
Status: Notice Left

We attempted to deliver your item at 3:18 pm on March 11, 2006 in GLOUCESTER, MA 01930 and a notice was left. A second delivery attempt will be made. If unsuccessful, we will hold it for five business days and then it will be returned to the sender. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later.

that is the latest from the usps tracking site. however no one came to my door to attempt delivery and no notice was left in the mailbox. interesting. interestingly, both my brother and I were home at the time and waiting for the mailman! i am going to go to my post office to see what the deal is this afternoon.

UPS in Australia sucks!!!

I get a phone call from them saying that Custom's had seized my parcel (another long story).....

Anyway, this UPS guy leaves what he calls a "direct number"....I ring the number several times, only to get the answering machine. So I finally leave a message.

A day goes past, no return phone call.....

I ring the main switchboard and ask for this guy and they say, to ring the direct number (who no one answers or returns phone calls)

So I try a new tact.

I ring the main switch again, and said that I got a call from this guy and he said it was urgent, and that I should be directly transferred..........they buy the scam.....and transfers me to his REAL direct line.

The guy picks up the phone sounding really shocked that someone got through..........anyway, the guy is a real loser, not wanting to get off his ass to do anything......so before he hangs up, I ask him for his REAL number....and he gives me the one that no one answers.

So I tell him....I tried ringing that number, but no one seem to answer it. So he tells me "Yeah....that's right, we don't answer phones here!?!?!?!?!"

Anyway.....next day I tried contacting him again through the switch because I know they make it a policy NOT to answer phones...

The lady at the switch again gives me the NON Answerable number....I told her to transfer me......she says "we do not have the facility to do that"..

By this time I swear at her with a few choice words describing body parts.....and she goes, the guy is on holidays.....

More swearing, and calling her a liar because I just spoke to the guy............she then transfers me....

UPS = Uniquely Poor Service

well, I got the knife yesterday. delivery was attempted early in the morning, a slip was left, and I took it to the post office. I have to go back to mail my tax stuff to the accountant today, and I plan on filing a complaint with the post master about the service in my area.

sorry about the long long rant and use of profanity. I was irate. a $75 purchase turned into a $90 purchase, and I could have used priority and saved the $15 for the amount of time it took to get here.

there I go complaining again.

PEte

Pete, you don't live that far from me, and I have had a large number of problems lately. I filed two complaints recently, my first complaint was closed with no call back and no explanation. So I opened another that the first was closed without being resolved. So they called me for the second complaint to explain they couldn't help me so they just closed the first. :jerkit:

If you call the 800 number (which is not really the usps, just a call center) and try to elevate a problem report to a regional that might help. Once the local postmaster/mistress gets it it's a black hole, IME.

the "front office" people seem pretty nice and try to help. the "back office" people somewhat better then useless.
