Another way how to make money...

My primary interest and mission on this planet is to rid the internet of All arbitrageurs! What is your interest in this matter, please? How does your IP compare?

jbknives1, anyone that has the feedback that you do on Ebay has to be doing something right.

One thing I have to ask, how would David know you were going to win another auction a week after the first? The only way that his holding on to your knife for an extra week to save shipping would work is if he knew you were going to win that second auction.

I have to admit, I don't care for people that charge as if the items were shipped seperately, but ship them together in the same shipment instead. In my opinion that is a way to gouge extra profit.

jbknives bought knives from me before - that is correct. But not that one he was auctioning on ebay - to be more specific - cocobolo handled auto with exclusive grind. The ebay auction started and finished before he could have the knife in his hands. In his e-mail he even complains about delayed shipping - that his customer is already waiting for the knife. I delayed the shipping by two days since he was bidding on another knife and I shipped them together saving 1.30 USD but shipping the second one before the payment for it arrived (thus taking some risk - but I had only good experience with jbknives at that moment). The whole thing would have not started if the first knife was not already sold to another customer. But I think we exchanged enough emails already and I think the case is closed.

As for cyber-clearinghouse I was wrong and I admit it. The similarity of graphics and wording confused me. I am glad I was wrong, the person has nothing to do with this case and I wrote him an e-mail to apologize.

Added: And I think it is obvious that JBKnives (Jim@DKW) had nothing to do with this either.

Just for the record:

Here is the first auction for cocobolo auto that jbknives1 won:

http://130.94.72.1/cgi-bin/osa/ViewPage.cgi?templateName=item_form.htx&itemNumber=697334

Finished on 07-29-03. Was paid on 08-11-03 (the check could have been delivered sooner but the deposit showed in my internet banking on Monday 08-11-03 - due to a time difference I found out on Tuesday 08-12-03.)

Here is the second auction: http://130.94.72.1/cgi-bin/osa/ViewPage.cgi?templateName=item_form.htx&itemNumber=698966

Finished 08-07-03. I was still waiting for the first payment to arrive thus holding the first knife. Once I got it I shipped the package (with both knives) on 08-14 in the morning. My mistake - I should have shipped it immediately but I work as well and have a small farm (not an excuse). The second payment arrived 08-18-03.

Showing my picture (modified) and the date when the auction started and finished. It started 08-05-03 just week after my auction finished (no way I could deliver the knife that fast - the payment for the knife was not even in the bank yet). So I was wrong, it was not exactly preselling (I have just learned the word), but I was right, the knife could not be in his possession since it was sent just day before the ebay auction finished. I checked my records and I could not find any record of selling the same knife to jbknives1 before.

As for other two auctions that were posted (originally with my pictures) - the knives were in his possession. But since the pictures were mine and the knives were (and still are) just auctioned by me I thought he was preselling them - but he was actually selling his knives using my pictures.

Added: screenshot of the two auctions on ebay showing my pictures:

Corresponding BA auctions are: 700952 and 702338

It shows that none of us was exactly right, none of us was completely wrong. This could have been solved over the e-mails and in the end it actually was (at least I hope so). Lesson learned - at least for me. Next time I will ship immediately and will not ship before I get the payment.

He won the other auction before the first payment arrived so I shipped the knives together. The delay was less than 48 hours.

I saved exactly $1.30 but shipped the second knife before I got 59.00 USD so I thought it would be a reasonable "profit" for the "risk" involved. I am not saying I was worried about jbknives1 not sending the payment (I have had only good experience before) but checks can get lost too.

As for shipping: I ship via registered and insured air mail that is not cheap. If I receive knives from US the shipping is around 20-28 USD (depending on insurance amount and speed of delivery). My shipping is 8.00 USD per piece - 16.00 for two knives. The total amount is based on weight and with two knives is almost double - less 1.30 - 1.40 depending on exchange rate.

I did use edited portions of davids pictures to sell his knives. I also uncovered davids plot to take over the world and use his knife selling business as a funding source for his evil empire. As long as were telling stories I thought I would make it interesting. He has changed his story, recanted things he said about innocent bystanders and generally stuck his foot in his mouth. Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones. Here is the reprimand i received from Blade Auction: Subj: Re: BA - Jim Benson

"in hand" is the least acceptable. Given the amount of things that can go wrong w/ even in transit with the notion that one other
person is telling you that much and he could be preselling. If you know this guy TYDY - he came in here bout 4 years back. SOld
about 100 knives before I got to him. 120 days later the last person got his knife! He was preselling stuff from SKM and a portion of
those were being seized "by customs" even.

JB @ BLADEAUCTION
www.bladeauction.com In closing I will never deal with this person again and will make sure that the knife is in hand instead of in transit before listing a new auction. Sorry to have wasted your time with this nonsense. jim - jbknives1
