Another week hunting...

The deer are Fallow, there are three variations, Black (the majority of those pictured), Menil and Common. All roam around these hills.

What a special place. Thanks for the pic's and story. You really have some awesome adventures. That Sako sure gets it done.

Yes mate, that little Sako really was one of my best investments. It started life out of a conversation with a guy on a property in the far west of the state (hard country to live and work on). I had my Sako .22/250 with me and he mentioned he had one as well. He took a look at mine and laughed and said his was much older. The next day he dropped by with it and age was not the issue but it was beat to death. A check of his and mine showed that the serial numbers were within 300 of each other (I bought mine new in 1983) but his was just about without finish (what was left was bull orange/brown) the toe of the stock was broken off, the scope was busted and the first six inches of barrel in front of the chamber was smooth. Still the action was sound... ;) And it ended up making the trip home with me for some TLC and appeared at the other end of the spa as the most useful .308 you see here..... :D :D

Andy it looks like the hunting was good , some great photos as well mate.

Hey Andy, how come you don't eat the pigs? are they no good? I cannot imagine that they wouldn't be...

Any photos of this rifle?

From before the build ?? Sadly not, I was in such a hurry to get it together as a .308 I failed to snap any off before it was pulled down and the work started (I so still have the original stock here somewhere though).

Helmut, some do but I don't care for them, leptosporosis is too common in them for my liking and I am not a big enough pork fan (other than BACON :D ) to take the time cleaning the mongrel things.

I'm so jealous! Those are some awesome pics, I can only imagine (or dream :D) what it's like in person.

It is so beautiful there! That would be such a great time  I always love listening to your adventures. Thanks for sharing, Andy! By the way, how big was that ant? It looks GIANT! =)

Well....I did see that ant carrying away an entire hog carcass.........

OK...well maybe not.... he was probably an inch long with attitude....I was poking him with a stick and he was getting all cranky with it..!

I really think I want to come hang out with you for a day! Such beautiful land and it seems like you are always having fun.

I'm with Lexi on this one, I would love to hang out with you someday and go on at least one adventurous hunt like this. Great pictures Andy!

it seems like you are always having fun.
.... you were not there for the bits where me and the bike parted company at speed.... ;) :D

Thanks guys..... this place (in the pics) is a really beautiful part of the world, it is a working cattle property and worth about $20Million Aussie (just valued due to the death of the long time owner :( :( ) I have been going here since I was 15 and I am "almost 21 now" ;) ... :D
