The story:
Two years ago in March a 100 percent blockage of the left artery of my heart precipitated a heart attack and double bypass surgery. The thing that saved my life was that my right artery had grown 50% in both length and volume to take up most of the slack for the failing artery.
The recent problem was a treadmill test showed more blockage showing up left side of heart. 36 minutes worth of xrays taken with glow in the dark juice shot into me before and after treadmill test indicated that one of the bypass grafts was clogging up. More bypass surgery --more complex and dangerous the second time around -- to correct the problem became a distinct possibility.
Because both treadmill test and xrays are outside looking in my cardiologist ordered the angiogram which is inside, up close and personal, and shows things as they actually are. This was done yesterday and here's the results.
Sure enough, one of the grafts was clogged at one end and blood flow was considerably diminished. BUT, my heart had developed blood vessels near the clogged area and was bypassing blood flow around it.. My cardiologist chuckled and said, "you've made your own bypass."
The news couldn't have been better and I attibute this outcome to answered prayers. Yours and all the other prayers going up from all over the world. Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, Moslem -- all the world's great religions plus some minor ones. (A special thanks to the high lama of Swayambunath, engaged by Pala, who sweat blood doing puja to make things go as they did.)
A prayer whether it is done by thought, word, or deed, goes to a realm removed from us in this life. It goes into a timeless, endless, all knowing and all powerful place where it is considered and acted upon. I say this because there are those who will say that it was impossible for the prayers to work in a day or two. After all, a heart can't develop blood vessels and conduct it's own bypass mechanism in this length of time. But, in this place where prayers go time doesn't matter. It was known in that place that the prayers would be forthcoming.
Prayers work and if it were not for them I would probably not be here this morning. If anybody wants to argue the point don't do it with me. Your efforts will be entirely wasted.
Is there any way I can thank everybody? No, but if you knew what was in this beat up old heart of mine today I think it would be thanks enough.
A special blessing to you all.
