The story:

Two years ago in March a 100 percent blockage of the left artery of my heart precipitated a heart attack and double bypass surgery. The thing that saved my life was that my right artery had grown 50% in both length and volume to take up most of the slack for the failing artery.

The recent problem was a treadmill test showed more blockage showing up left side of heart. 36 minutes worth of xrays taken with glow in the dark juice shot into me before and after treadmill test indicated that one of the bypass grafts was clogging up. More bypass surgery --more complex and dangerous the second time around -- to correct the problem became a distinct possibility.

Because both treadmill test and xrays are outside looking in my cardiologist ordered the angiogram which is inside, up close and personal, and shows things as they actually are. This was done yesterday and here's the results.

Sure enough, one of the grafts was clogged at one end and blood flow was considerably diminished. BUT, my heart had developed blood vessels near the clogged area and was bypassing blood flow around it.. My cardiologist chuckled and said, "you've made your own bypass."

The news couldn't have been better and I attibute this outcome to answered prayers. Yours and all the other prayers going up from all over the world. Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, Moslem -- all the world's great religions plus some minor ones. (A special thanks to the high lama of Swayambunath, engaged by Pala, who sweat blood doing puja to make things go as they did.)

A prayer whether it is done by thought, word, or deed, goes to a realm removed from us in this life. It goes into a timeless, endless, all knowing and all powerful place where it is considered and acted upon. I say this because there are those who will say that it was impossible for the prayers to work in a day or two. After all, a heart can't develop blood vessels and conduct it's own bypass mechanism in this length of time. But, in this place where prayers go time doesn't matter. It was known in that place that the prayers would be forthcoming.

Prayers work and if it were not for them I would probably not be here this morning. If anybody wants to argue the point don't do it with me. Your efforts will be entirely wasted.

Is there any way I can thank everybody? No, but if you knew what was in this beat up old heart of mine today I think it would be thanks enough.

A special blessing to you all.

We're all just glad you made it uncle, as I have said to you many times. What goes around comes around and all the good you have sent around the world will afford you alot of good luck and karma !!

Regards and blessings

Brendan

Thank the lord you are okay and we are still praying for Bura !!

You made your own bypass?

Does that count as having superpowers? Now all you need is a cape. :)

Yes Prasie God!!!! This is great news!!!!

So Uncle you do not have to have surgery at all? Does the Doc have any more plans for you?

Praise the Lord
and
Welcome back.
Hope your body continues its self repair process, just don't talk too loud or those Dr's will want a look to see how you are cutting into their action:rolleyes:

Blessing to you, Yangdu and Bura

First: congratulations with happy news.

Second: And the doctors let you go without doing any more study on your ability to grow new blood vessels??? What if your genes hold the secret to a new medicine that will allow people to grow new blood vessels instead of dying of a heart attack??? Strange doctors. Or is this ability of yours a common phenomenon in a time of radioactive foods and atmosphere making us mutate into new things?

To avoid conflict with your faith we could say that the prayers were heard already before you were formed (or should I say forged ;)?) out of an eggcell and spermcell. And that the prayers guided that single spermcell on the right path.

Great news!

Sounds like your ticker puts up a fight on its own.

There's a recent device that forces blood towards the heart by pulsing a bunch of pressure cuffs around the legs in time with the heartbeat. The patient goes in for treatments over several weeks, and the result is strengthened/new blood vessels in the heart. You might ask your doc about it--sounds like your heart is good at making plumbing. The device has been approved for several heart conditions. I can point you towards more info if you want.

You may be ready Uncle, but we're not ready to lose you. Welcome back!

Tough times don't last, tough people do. Stay strong Uncle Bill, there's still much we need to learn from you.

I know that bodies -- or at least some bodies -- compensate for losses that have been inflicted on them in some way or another. The cardiologist seemed a bit surprised first time around by the size to which my right artery had grown trying to compensate for the loss of the left but he didn't seem surprised at all yesterday. In fact, he seemed more amused and pleased than anything.

I was awake and fully aware during the procedure, pestering the staff and warning my cardiologist I'd come back to haunt him if he poked a hole thru my heart. There was an RN maybe fifty assisting in the procedure and she said, "My God. This man has arteries like a garden hose!"

I don't know how prayers work only that they do. And I'll keep on saying and doing them and offering up some returns for those who offered them up for me.

Well, seeing as how lining up your ribs won't be a problem after all, make sure they don't charge you full price. I mean, you did your own bypass, organically yet! Next you'll be doing your own appendix...

heh

Great news!

Stephen
