Went and picked up my anvil today.

Went to the Fedex Freight depot to pick it up

There the guy loaded it with his forklift, and ran off before I could tip him! As you can see Chuck does an impeccable job of packing it. The anvil is mounted to it's own small wooden pallet, and metal strapped to the base so it does not flop around or fall out.

I got it offloaded at work, and removed the base and set it to the proper height.

Here it is off the pallet ready to be loaded back on my truck, the forklift made this WORLDS easier, I cannot imagine doing it by hand.

Thanks to my sister's sleepy boyfriend, we got it offloaded and into the shop no problem, yes it is as heavy as it looks.

Was a great day, the anvil is everything I hoped it would be and more. Chuck really does an AMAZING job on these. Not only is the anvil great but the stand is also extremely well built. More pictures and detailed specs when I have had some time to work on it (and it's a bit warmer).

HAPPY ANVIL DAY TO YOU, SAM!!! That's a pretty nice setup.

YEHAW! Man, I kknow JUST how you feel!

Ain't having a dedicated,specialized tool the BEST!

Happy ANVIL day!

Chuck's Anvils ROCK!

Robert, I will! The mechanic will let me know before it goes away for salvage so I can go get the good stuff. I stopped by your house today but you were not at home, did you notice the tire tracks :D ?

Andy, Chuck is Chuck Robinson of Sea Robin Forge, he makes/made these anvils.

What is really cool is the steel.used to make these anvils...

Here's a direct quote from Chuck ...

"The steel came from an Army munitions plant that closed down in
Mississippi 20 years ago. It was used to make 155 MM Howitzer rounds."

If that ain't "swords to plowshares" I don't know what is.

This is a high quality anvil, recommended by the likes of Don Fogg.

So everybody knows, Chuck is about out of this steel and the high price of current steel makes in impossible for him to keep making these anvils.

So...if you want one...best buy now...even if it money is tight...this is a worthwhile purchase.

Awesome Sam!

I think what I like even more than the anvil, is your enthusiasm. :D Like a kid at Christmas! :)

Is that your Fastenal polo shirt in that one pic? I think you should send me one! :D I just bought a 7/9" Makita angle grinder at my local Fastenal.

Let's see some pics of you pounding on that new anvil Sam!!! (for realz this time ;) ) :D

Yes I noticed the tracks.Let me know when you're going to start it up.Got new batteries for my camera so it will work.

Shane, I am 100% with you the "swords to plowshares" thing, I love that type of philosophy and it fits great with the anvils, very cool.

Yeah good eye, that's my blue! Ahh you should have gotten the Metabo, 3 year warranty as opposed to Makita's 1 year! I don't know if the local fastenal guys can get you a polo, but I have some t shirts at my store, Ask your local guys what they're "branch code" is, then shoot it to me in a PM and i'll make sure you get a shirt.

Robert, I thought you would :D. I should be banging something out this weekend, but I will also be heat treating a sword on Saturday if you want to stop by for that.

I forged about 6 hours on mine the first day I got it home.... Wife said I looked like a maniac giggling and a huge grin on my face.

69, yeah he just refuses to leave, I should not have fed him :D.

George, NO!!!!!!! I am really anxious, I will work something out this weekend though!
