Anvil Score.

The best score I ever heard of was when I taught my first "formal" Knife Class. We did 2 days in a row fri and sat. Friday the class came in and we talked about the tools and fired up forges etc. The next day one of the students came in and said his next door neighbor came by. His grandfather was a blacksmith and had left a bunch of junk in his garage. For $50 he could have it all. Well 3 anvils 2 forges 100's of tongs and hand tools later he thought he had a pretty good deal. I offered him $500 sight unseen. Turned me down though.

i figure at 300 pounds it cant be to crapy. did thay eaven make cast iron anvils larger than 100 pounds. i would think that just being 300 pounds says somthing. i dont have the car my wife does. i will check it out as soon as i can.

If it is as old as it seems it is probably a good anvil. Might be cast steel. I have a 250# cast steel that has a 95% bounce. The nice thing about it is no ring. Ringing anvils give me a headache.

I love cast steel.

I have a cute little cast steel Soderfors that rebounds like crazy.

Maybe it's a nice Vaughn or something. That would be sweet.
