Anxiety is a killer

Anybody else hate waiting for new knives to arrive, and for that reason hate the weekend (no Sunday delivery)? I have 3 knives arriving next week and feel like I may spring a leak from anxiety.

Two of the 3 knives are coming internationally, so anxiety is just worse since tracking is useless. I hate waiting on shipping!

Any way on a happy note I'm geting a spyderco chokwe!!!in the next two weeks...sigh

Nope, not at all. That's the problem with younger generations, they have never had to go without. I'm not that old but grew up poor, so I'm fairly good at making due with what I have and being creative to entertain myself. This current era we are in is one of materialism where everyone has to have the latest and greatest gadget. Not only that but they have to have it right now. It is a different world from just 20 years ago. For better or worse, well I'm sure we each have our own opinion on that.

I have a couple sprint run knives that I have been waiting on for close to a year and I just don't think about them so I don't get worked up. I remember when I see the threads about them that are 20 pages long with people complaining or asking about them because another dozen days have gone by with no word. In fact I got an email early this week that 2 knives I have been waiting on for a few months were shipping out. There is a good chance they are in the mailbox so I might go check it. Or I might wait until tomorrow when I'm leaving at some point.

I believe that Saturday mail will stop in August . What are you going to do take Anix .

I think I may wind up using UPS around the weekends in that case. The UPS truck runs every day exceot Sunday at my house (but I bet they will gladly charge for Saturday delivery). I blame online billing. Did anybody hear the postmaster talking about how the post office is in a really bad state? He pretty much called the postal service outdated.

I'm 56 years old, and I hate waiting! Nine out of 10 knives I order will be shipped using overnight shipping, while the other one will still be shipped using expedited shipping, just not overnight.

Instant gratification is what I'm all about!

I am with you on that cutter17. I am retired and on a fixed income, so I research and check out my purchases thoroughly before pulling the trigger on something. But when I do pull the trigger and buy, I want it NOW! I can wait (and nap) on waiting on someone or an event with the best of them. But when I buy something, its a different game.

Blessings,

Omar

I'm not super impatient but if I know a knife is going to be delivered on a certain day, I get super excited to check the mail and collect my prize.
I do get excited knowing I'm getting a new knife and that it's on its way, but I stay pretty composed through the transit.
It's the waiting on the day that gets me.

Like I have known since Tuesday I was getting a Small CF Sebenza. I was super excited for the trade but composed.
We shipped Thursday and I was excited knowing it was that much closer, but still composed.
Today, the tracking number says "Out for delivery", well I nearly jump and dance. I wait patiently to check the mail and my anxiousness builds up to the point I'm about to burst with excitement.
Check the mail and see the dreaded slip that tells me I can't have it until Monday because I have to pick it up at the Post office. So now I'm impatient and want to destroy Sunday so I can get my knife lol.

So yeah, I get it.

I'm 45 and the older I get, the less days I have to wait on stuff...

This basically describes me as well.

I don't mind waiting on collectible items. I only get agitated when a delay is having a tangible effect on my life, like a replacement part for vehicle that means I am stuck without a car. I can usually wait a day or two to fondle stuff.

If I remember correctly it's only letters that are stopping on saturday, packages will still be delivered, Cutlerylover did a video on it and he works for USPS. Apparently there is some government regulation that states that USPS has to deliver 6 days a week.

One time I had ordered 3 different knives from 3 different dealers. They were ordered 3 days apart so what I ended up with was a delivery on Tue. Wed. & Thur.
Which was kinda neat.
Cheers

I don't get worked up over things I don't have control over. I get very excited like everyone else but as long as it doesn't get lost or damaged, I don't mind waiting an extra day or two.

I think we are all safe on one count, packages will still be delivered on Saturdays, just no regular mail.

One more day to get knives.

It's strange, if I'm waiting in line or stuck in traffic I get very Zen, accept that impatience doesn't help things to happen faster, and just relax. But if I'm at home waiting for an important item to be delivered, I'm climbing the walls like a crack addict waiting on his dealer.

Hehe I kinda feel the same way.....I just pace back and fourth......

The thing that gets me is not having working tracking. If I have tracking I am fine (until the package hits Indianapolis, then that day just never ends because I will get my knife the next day), but nix the tracking and I start thinking worst-case scenarios. Did it get lost? Shipped to the wrong address? Delivered then stolen from my mailbox?

It's the uncertainty that gets me.

We have a locking mail box. I'm home all day. I'm expecting my first PCC custom balisong tomorrow. A few days after that, I should have a set of Ontario Retribution folders back from Reese Weiland.

It will arrive soon .... go play with your other toys while you wait.
