I'v been looking at getting a spyderco Adventura. I was wondering if anyone here has had any experience with it and knows if its a good knife?

~thanks

I bought it for the styling - don't really use knives. If you like the looks, that would be the reason to buy. Might want to remove the clip to get a real scalpel feel in the hand. This would also be a really neat knife to have some thin micarta custom scales added, if you like that sort of thing.

I have an Adventura that I like a lot. The recurve blade with swedge looks nice and cuts well. I really like the handle -very comfy for me both using the choil and not using the choil. The SS handle is nice and slim, and feels solid; plus the cutouts in the handle add grip that also makes the knife easier to draw for me. VG-10 is my favorite steel. The knife is the perfect EDC size (3" blade/4" handle) for my uses. 4-way clip so I can run mine left-hand tip-down (although I have also used it tip-up).

Very nice knife.

The Adventura is one of the coolest knives Spyderco has ever put out.

It's thin, light, and just plain looks awesome. 4 way clip option on a lockback means everyone is happy.

Just get one, and you won't regret it.

Pocket scalpel indeed:cool:

The Adventura is my favorite SS handle Spyderco(aside from my Cricket:cool: ). The cutouts in the handle look cool, but they lend a grip to the knife that typical SS handles are sorely lacking. The recurve is very handy and cuts really well. Add a four-way clip, and you have an excellent EDC knife.

I like mine as it is so unique. It is quite thin but has a very solid design. I would not hesitate to get one and I am a big fan of the 4 positions clip

Adventura is an awesome slicer with that fab recurve......
best traction of all my SS knives....its got jimping in all the right places..... well, they couldv'e included it on the lock IMO but it is Unique amongst the clipit family....

I really like mine. The recurve cuts really well and I love the thin profile. It just disappears into the pocket.

Thank you all for the comments. :)
Needless to say an Adventura is my EDC for a couple years now :D
I carry mine tip down because it rides lower in the pocket and also because this way the vents at the butt are exposed and allow easier grip reversal maneuvers. Also, when you put the knife open (laying on the clip) on a table, it will stay in balance without the blade touching the table surface. Especially practical after you spread butter or jam and you don't want to leave stains on the table cloth ;) Just a few hints... ;)

You naughty boy! My mistake, sorry (unfortunately English is not my native language) :o

No need for the Adventura designer to apologize; I would have done (and often do) make the same jests with native English speakers. :D

I have and enjoy two Adventuras.

I would like to see one in G-10.

G10 and fully serrated:thumbup:

Now THAT would be a dream knife for me:D :D

It might just kick my beloved D 3/SE out of my pocket;)

I bought one as a gift for my cousin and immediately regretted having to give it away. It's smaller than you might think, Delica-sized, and very thin. The handle is fantastic and versatile, and the blade is great if you like recurves.

That is a very important point. Many folks shy away from SS knives thinking they are heavy and bulky. That is just not true in this case.

Others shy away from SS because of perceived handle retention issues (especially when wet, oily, etc.) Dialex overcame that issue with the cutout, which aid in handle retention.

I am attracted to the blade and handle design. The only thing that puts me off is the name. (Shallow me).

Now that I am reminded that the designer is eastern european , may I ask if the name also comes from that region ?

I initially thought it was a mix of Adventure and Aventura. I hope it's not. If it is, how do you pronounce it?

Partially, OT

Since I'm asking about pronunciaton, how do you pronounce Spyderco? Spee-der-cou or Spy-der-coh :)
