I know it had a few problems but considering how much people pay over the odds on ebay etc for this knife which are mostly used.
Its considered amongst the holy grail of spydercos so they would sell.
One with the new inclosed ball lock would be intresting but is it just because the intrest isnt there overall or that there was too many problems with the knife origanaly?.
Or is there a lot of other reasons im not seeing?.

I don't know, but I'd sure like one (or maybe 2, one black and one blue)!

Ray :)

The Dodo is a fave of mine

If they came back from the dead id probably pick one or two up, even though im geedy and have 3 already :D

I wasn't aware that the Dodo had problems. I've been using one for several years and it's one of the handiest knives I've ever carried. It's a good utility design with excellent potential as a self-defense tool. I've used mine to cut cable, heavy cardboard, zip-ties, fiberglass strapping, and the S30V blade has held up very well. I can't imagine selling mine.

So, what sort of problems have they had?

Only problem I've ever heard the Dodo having was that in some of the early ones (when the BB lock was first being used), the lock didn't work right. Later versions had this fixed.

A foliage green sprint ala manix would be pretty awesome. Or, if they're sick of FG, that UKPK blaze orange would be superb.

I was also thinking about the ball lock problem.

Personally, I'd rather see a "Dodo II".

Say - an updated lock ala P'kal, perhaps some mild change in grind, etc.

Evolution versus copy.

It makes me wonder if the dodo was readily available would there be a buzz about it? It is a great knife but I wonder why it took it's retirement for people to see that?

The demand is among collectors/ AFI's due to word of mouth & positive reviews. I don't think demand woulb be high enough to warrant a re-release/ update, but with prices the way they are, demand is just right for a Sprint run IMO.

I agree with that, a sprint run in green or orange or both could be the way to go.............there sure is a lot of interest out there, me included!!! ;)

Still looking, especially for blacks..............

A sprint run with the new ball lock in FG would be quality.
Although i still think they should bring it back as it would sell more than most spydercos on the market at the moment IMO.
Most dodos seem to sell for almost double what there market price was so i believe thats proof that demands there plus its still such a talked about knife on the forums.I rember at xmass bidding $200 on a dodo and still not winning.
I dont understand how the dodo and manix ended up beign discontinued im surprised the market wasnt big enough for them.
I dont doubt they would sell out as quick as any spyderco has before if they released a sprint run like this.

I couldn't agree more....Sal?? are you there???.....This would be just as cool as the sprint run FG full size manix that I just ordered four of so I could make sure I was never without a manix again. (four in addition to what I ordered for others)
