Any chance of a DODO return?.

I think the Dodo has turned into a classic case of "you dont know what youv got untill its gone"

It is a great knife but it seems it just didnt punt the number the first time around for some reason  A re-intro. would see feverish perchases at the begining but would probably drop off quite quickly after all those who wanted one got them so a sprint run would probably be the way forward

I too would love to purchase a dodo. But for $250 on the bay, its a bit much. :foot: I'm sure they have to have somthing in the works they aren't telling us about!

The best way to get a Dodo is not to use eBay. I picked up 5 Dodos in the past 18 months for less than 90$ each by checking WTS forums on a few different sites. The non-eBay price for a SE seems to however around 75-95$ depending on handle color. PE usually hits 90-120$.

I've seen one this week on another forum for sale. It's 120$, Blue, SE, hasn't sold yet. I have a feeling it's overpriced for the market it's been posted to.

I'd like to see the Dodo come back but not without an effective redesign. There are a few different ways to tweak the handle, blade and lock that would really make the knife more up to date.

Do you have any of these for sale?.

And what ways might those be? Just curious.

Nope, all mine are in my permanent collection. Pay attention to the sale forums, every few weeks one will pop up.

Just a few. ;)

Revamp the lock ala' the P'kal. Makes it easier to manipulate and saves the thumbnail.

Full flat-grind the blade and reduce the downward sweeping point to a more moderate angle. This ups the general utility of the blade without reducing much of the cutting ability. Alternatively, have a whole new blade. There were a bunch of mock-ups posted at the Spyderco.com/forums that I would love to try in this form factor.

Add jimping to the top of the blade for grip.

Foliage Green G10. :D

Just my thoughts. It's an excellent design as is but it's so easy to wonder "what if."

I found the Dodo to be perfect in its inception. It's a very well thought out design, from the handle shape to the blade shape to the lock. I liked the fact the handle was blue and avoided the "tactical" look. Excellent design for self-defense, but easy to explain away as a utility knife. One of the most innocuous, under-stated, under-rated knives ever made, in my opinion.

The world needs more Dodos.

Theres a blue one spydie guys are selling the now for $260.
I could get some INFI for that price.
If people are willing to pay that then i think they would sell.

I say bring the Dodo back in it's original design. The less Spyderco has to do with the design the more the chance to bring it back. Sprint runs of FG and Orange with the same design sounds more promising.

Word- much like the ayoob, were killing the chances of a sprint with all these elaborate (but awesome) improvements.

By talking about personally wanted improvements how are "we" doing anything in relation to whether or not Spyderco produces a sprint run of the Dodo? Afi speculation and input does not negate whatever demand there is for a certain model. I'm not going to roll into Golden tomorrow and give a PowerPoint about why the Dodo should return and neither is anyone else, it just makes for interesting conversation.

I'd like to see Spyderco experiment with some different handle colors and blade styles. Orange and Foliage Green G-10, of course. Maybe even stainless ala the Poliwog. I'd like to see a Wharncliff style blade, as well as a full hawkbill. I agree with spoonrobot....full flat ground blades would increase the ease of cutting. It might make it easier to sharpen, as well. I had trouble getting to the edge with my Sharpmaker.
