I've only dealt with Josh one time, but it was a positive experience. Order was handled fast and accurately. Only thing left out was the inexpensive free knife....but 1 email and he responded immediately, apologized, and I had the freebie a few days later.
I had read others had some problems, mostly due to Josh being a 1-man operation and sometimes getting overwhelmed. In my case I emailed him on a Saturday and got a reply Sunday morning...so obviously the man is working hard.
As to your basic question, I got no tracking number. Mine shipped USPS, so a tracking number wouldn't have been that helpful anyway. Not sure if he provides them on UPS shipments.
Got an automated order comfirmation, but if memory serves no email indicating shipment (which I always like). Again, order arrived very promptly (within a few days).
