Any fans of the Congress pattern out there?

KO, you got a nice bunch of congresses (congri?):D
I especially like that winchester "norfolk" style. Does that have a waterfall celluloid handle, or are you sure it's micarta??

I have to say that your Tree Brand congress calls to me...Nice looking knife...
I've always thought the Bokers were really nice - consistent quality. Since you like German stag Congress I've added another image. I don't have a lot of German stag models but what I do have is in the image with the Boker at the top.

Yes, thanks for the correction. I'll edit the list above. It would make a super carry knife because it's nice and small. The blades are pristine, though, so I hate to cut anything with it when I have drawer loads of carry knives. Thanks again.

Knice ones KO. I also love the stag on that Henckles. In the Boker I have a stag whittler that shares the look of the Boker.

That's a nice collection Fred.
How long has it taken you to round those up, if I might ask?

Bill

I don't know for sure. I don't work at the Congress collection very hard. I just pick things up when they show up and appeal to me. The NYK was a gift from my father a very long time ago and it is the knife that got me interested in the Congress pattern in the first place. The Winchester is from 1991. The Rooster is probably late 90's. The others are newer than that. The latest acquisition of this lot is probably the Bulldog which I bought within the last couple of months. I don't keep track very consistently. Sorry.

Certainly no apology necessary. Thank you for sharing some of your collection with all of us.

Bill

There sure are some nice looking Congress knives in this thread-Here is a couple of Bulldogs:

Beautiful congress...It seems that anything coming from Wendell Carson is a thing of beauty...

Does Carson do many with his own tang markings like that? I thought that he mainly used leftover Queen/Schatt parts....but I am probably mistaken.

That is one $%^& of a beautiful effing congress!!!

Great Boker, Amos. And the serrated YJ is a cut above the average EDC, (pun intended) :D !

I don't know Greg; I think that top one needs a few more blades!:D !

I am pretty confident that all of Wendell's knives have his tang stamp on the blades, at least mine do and it seems that all of his recent additions have them...

Sunburst,Since we're all talking about my knife....
Could you tell me,Who is Wendell Carson?
And,I was told, that the scales on this one,is second cut stag?
What do you think,or anyone??
Thanks for all the previous comments, and in advance for any others,
Vince

Sure thing, Wendell Carson is a custom knife maker out of Mississippi that mainly uses Schatt & Morgan stock to customize his knives. He seems to specialize in exotic handles such as mammoth, ivory, seacow bone and lots of other materials. He usually does filework on the springs and just makes a well made good looking knife that is very affordable for a custom.

What seems to be the best part of buying a Wendell Carson knife though is dealing with him personally, he is as good as they come and maybe a hair better...Here is his bio and a link to his knives on Ebay...

Your knife looks great...It is hard for me to answer the question of the second cut stag from this picture...I have never seen second cut stag on any of his pieces, so my opinion would be that your handles may not be second cut..??

VCM3,

I'm not sunburst, but as info...

Wendell Carson is probably best known as an embellisher and/or hafter, and repairman, of production components. He has been doing it for a long time...I have a pearl 5-blade that he added blades to, as well as the pearl scales, back in 1981. I know he also wrote some for Knife World back then. More recently, he sells on eBay...and his own knives are marked Fightin Bull, like yours. But he does do knives using Older Queen and Schatt and Morgan marked components, as well as some German (Olbertz?) components. Some are also etched "Carson Knives."

Not meant as a hijack...just trying to pitch in here.

Bill

EDITED:
Man, I'm really slowing down. :o
