Any fellow walnut-lovers out there?

I just posted this in another thread, but realized it belongs here too in the walnut beauty pageant. :)

Oh boy! The piece de resistance! That's one excellent chopper!

I'm late to the party, but things have been very busy around here lately.

Some AMAZING pieces in this thread!!!

I have some GORGEOUS "Mizoura" walnut directly from Mr. Don Hanson...:D :D :D but I haven't figured out exactly how to finish it just yet.

Roger, I have actually been to Michael's place (the guy with the walnut in Roger's pics for those of you that are wondering who Michael is)... and it would absolutely BLOW YOUR MIND!!!!   He has burls that are so full of figure they could be cut into knife handles... but they're big enough for a 20 person conference table.    :D

Michael is an attorney turned full-time wood guy BTW ;) :) He is an absolutely fantastic guy, and is just a pleasure to talk with. He has "chunks" of walnut the size of cars there. He also has some KILLER stuff native to the northwest like spalted oak burl. (some of which I'm hoarding in my shop :D ).

Great thread Roger!  :)

Todd, I think this thread is missing some of YOUR work! Got any pics?
I have not used any walnut on my folder knives yet? :o
But I do use a lot of wood, just need to snag one of the pieces here, and I would be OK......:D:thumbup:

Oh, I bet it wood, um I mean, would. Some of those gunstock boards look like they would have left behind some nice handle-size hunks from the cuttings... :) Maybe I should volunteer to help him sweep up around the place.... ;)

Karl and David - good stuff!

i know this is a little ot, but since there are so many wood lovers and experts here together: does anyone have a link to a site where one could view native n. american wood, rough-cut, slabbed, and finished? even a book title would be great. i have at least 10 books, and not a one is any good. they already presume the reader knows everything. anyone can pm me w/ info if they don't want to slow down this great thread.........thanks in advance............b

^^^ By all means post those links here if anyone has them - I'd be interested to see that kind of a site as well.

Here's an older Andrews piece with some beautiful walnut:

^^^ Just an unbelievably sweet little hunter, Bill. Light as a feather, sharp as a scalpel, and that gorgeous walnut.

Wow some seriously incredible woods there!!!

I also love Walnut, here are a couple of mine.

First one is English Walnut, the second one is Bastogne Walnut. I just picked up a piece of Turkish Walnut that I am dying to use!!!

here is a typical piece of "flame" Black Walnut, at this stage it still needed some wet sanding/finish-

Sean - very nice pieces. I haven't heard of Bastogne walnut, but I guess the name is self-explanatory.

Matt L. - that looks great - show us the rest of the knife.

Check out the tight curl on the claro walnut sides of this guitar:

Would love to see that in a handle with some equally tight ladder damascus.

And I wouldn't mind having the guitar, either.

Roger it seems to me what you need is a full set of matching kitchen knives out of that block
maybe W2 integrals
