Hello community,

I know this question might be asked over a million times, but like the dates on those articles are like more than months old and I think they might be outdated a bit. I don't really know much about knives, so I might need you guys help for choosing one. I will be using this as for EDC, so I don't want anything too huge... I am probably doing to put it under my pocket. I would like for some modern looking knives. I was looking for the CRKT's M16 series, but after looking at this video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfVBSW7tO9k, I kinda backed off a bit. Is there any other good choices? Thanks for helping.

I think Spyderco Tenacious or Ontario Rat-1 (my choice) are the best knives for under $50, i think many would agree

Ontario rat (model 1= 3.5", model 2 =3") best knife under $50 period, I have one of each and they get more pocket time than any other knives I own (which is quite a few and many worth upwards of 5, even 8 times as much money as the rat).

Also worth mentioning is the ESEE Zancudo but the thing keeping me from it is the lack of deep-carry clip. The spyderco tenacious is another awesome knife but just a little larger than the 3" knives I prefer.

I would recommend you scrape up just $10 more and you can pick up a used mini-grip, when you take into consideration the fit&finish, axis lock, blade steel, build quality and the zero-questions lifetime warranty your easily getting $200+ of knife for your money. You can find them for $60 several times a week on the exchange (I just picked one up NIB for $45 but that's uncommon to find that good 'a deal).

Let me put it this way- there's tons of great knives you can get for $50, or even $30, but if one of my friends came to me with $50 wanting the best knife they could get I'd give them $10 more and find someone selling a mini-grip. (Also want to mention I'm giving two of my friends mini-grips for Xmas this year).

If you can give us a idea of what size blade you might want we could give you some better more precise suggestions. Some quick suggestions . 4" blade RAT 1 ,3.5" Kershaw Blur , 3" Kershaw leek ,chill , 2.5" blade Kershaw Scallion , AG Russell 3" lockback.

Kershaw Tremor
Ontario Utilitac II
Ontario Rat-1
You could probably get any two and still be at around the $50.00 mark. Each is a lot of knife for the money. I have all three, and I can't help but smile while using each of them.

When I think about the best knives under $50 I look at the budget Spydercos, usually a delica or Tenacious. The Kershaw line usually a Skyline or leek depending on how hard you are using a knife as well as the RAT-1. There are other good options, but my the Spydercos are my first choice starting with the Delica if you can find it for $50 and then a Kershaw Skyline. There are a few other knives in those brands that you can get a good deal on in the exchange when usually they would cost more.

Your price point is high enough to avoid buying anything made in China.
Every worthy knife in that price range has already been mentioned, but if you're willing to stretch your budget a little further you look at some Spyderco and Benchmade products. The quality and warranty you get from those brands is well worth the money. Check out kershawguy.com and have a look around there. If you really stretched you could pick up a ZT0350 (blem). That knife is killer!!!
