Any good knives under $50?

Ontario Rat 1 & 2, Spyderco Tenacious, or a Kershaw. I just picked up my first Kershaw, a Cryo, for <$35. Seems like a nice knife, albeit a little small. Or save up a few more dollars and get a mini Grip or Manix 2.

Kershaw cryo 2 and kershaw thermite are nice and affordable, as also mentioned skyline, leek, blur depending on your style are all nice knives

Lots of people are saying the spyderco tenacious, rat 1, and the kershaw skyline. I don't really like those knife looks. But I will still consider them. By the way, why do spyderco knives are always that design? Like it just looks weird.

Hello community,

I know this question might be asked over a million times, but like the dates on those articles are like more than months old and I think they might be outdated a bit. I don't really know much about knives, so I might need you guys help for choosing one. I will be using this as for EDC, so I don't want anything too huge... I am probably doing to put it under my pocket. I would like for some modern looking knives. I was looking for the CRKT's M16 series, but after looking at this video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfVBSW7tO9k, I kinda backed off a bit. Is there any other good choices? Thanks for helping.

I wouldn't put much into that "test". It's an EDC you're looking at, not an axe. The M16 is a decent blade.

In the same price range though you do have many many many options, which others have provided options for. Enjoy the addiction!

You can find a used Benchmade Mini Griptilian for close to your price. In my opinion it's the best EDC out there. Second to that in the size you are after, the Ontario RAT-2 would be good. I have the larger RAT-1 and it's an amazing knife at it's price point. I like it a lot better than the comparable Spyderco's. I think the blade steel and ergonomics are much better.

Anything kershaw, spyderco, cold steel kudu, pocket bushman, all their lower prices knives are good. Camilus is good too.

I've owned the CRKT M16, and it fell apart. I own the Kershaw Skyline, and it's okay but not tough. My best friend has a Tenascious and it's pretty basic. I own a Buck Vantage and it's a pretty fragile knife.

My choice is the Ontario Utilitac II. Incredibly tough knife. It actually replaced my Zero Tolerance 0350 as my primary EDC I'm so happy with it.

Just these two if you're looking at folders...

....and if you're thinking fixed blade, then these two...

Please don't feel discouraged by that video. Every knife the guy tests fails. Not because they're bad but because his tests are childishly ridiculous. Hammering a folder through 1mm plate steel and shaving aluminium with Veff serations, really?
That's like driving your new car through a brick wall and calling it a hard use test.

Kershaw Skyline, Scallion, Chive, Leek, Blur(if you can find one under $50, sometimes you can), Needs Work, and any of their dozens of $20 budget made in China models(my personal favorite is the OSO Sweet)
Spyderco Tenacious, Resilience, Delica(again, if you can find one under $50, I've never seen it that low new but apparently some people have)
Cold Steel Voyager series(the medium and large models are usually under $50, the XL models are usually at $55 or so), Ti-lite 4'', Mini and Micro Recon series, Tuff Lite/Mini Tuff Lite
Ontario Rat-1
any Opinel
Svord Peasant/Mini Peasant
numerous Swiss Army Knives under $50
Enlan EL04MCT(I've heard good things about them in general, but this is the only one I have experience with)
Buck Vantage
CRKT Ripple(there's a budget version for $30, and a higher end version for $70, the budget version is still a nice knife)

Find a place where you can handle one. Then you'll get it. The "Spyderhole" makes opening (and closing) the knife one-handed very easy. Spydies are made to be used, not look pretty.

Spyderco has others in the same family as the Tenacious that haven't been mentioned. Check out the Resilience (my largest folder), Persistence, and Ambitious. All are <$50 and made with G-10 scales and 8Cr13MoV steel like the Tenacious. For a smaller <$50 knife I very highly recommend the Spyderco Dragonfly. Great pocket-size knife that can be comfortably carried with or without the clip.

The Tenacious was my first Spyderco and pretty much launched my addiction to them.

First of all, the Native 4 is VG-10. Second, it's $260 MSRP. And third, it's discontinued.
