Any interest in a group-buy of natural, green and black canvas micarta?

I use this stuff a lot....and can get a much better price if I buy it several large sheets (4'x6') at a time.

If you are interested in "going in" on this with me, let me know. I'll give it to you what it costs me plus the time/cost needed to cut it down to 12x12 sheets and ship it out.

Sound fair?

Right now I'm looking at getting it for around $0.55-60 per cubic inch for Green and $0.45-50 for natural or black. I would be ordering 3/8" thick sheets.

I'm not doing this to retail the stuff or profit from it...and don't need any money upfront for it.

Just want to know if others are interested...and if there is enough interest, I'll go ahead and get it...and then put the extras up for grabs in the exchange.

The best price I've found in non-bulk form was $0.80 per cubic inch (for quality stuff....obviously the crappy stuff is gonna be cheaper...:D).

And I am willing to cut it to different sizes. But this will be a one-time deal...when it's gone, it's gone. :D

Let me know what you think, guys.

Dan

I'd be interested in getting a price on natural and green. I'd need to know a price before I can commit to a specific quantity and I realize you can't give that until you know how much to get. Don't know if this helps or not.

I'm in the same boat as SDS. I'm having trouble in my little mind converting volume to square inches of 3/8" stock. Maybe I should get out a calculator. Anyway Dan, I'm interested.

At $.60/Cu.in. ,that translates to about $32 per 12X12 piece in 3/8" thickness. Generally you get eight to twelve sets of handles from a 12X12, so that works out to $3-4 a set of scales.

I would be interested in the black canvas. I use it on my professional cutlery.

If shippingcost to Germany won't be to much I'll be interested in a 12x12 black and a 12x12 in green

Thanks Stacy, you beat me to it. :) Or if you can do that in your head you're way ahead of anyone else I know!

Just to do the quick math in my head for you:
Tracy sells 18 cubic inches for $15. That is about $.80 per cu.in.
Jantz sells the same sheet for $22. That is $1.25/cu.in.

You guys crack me up....:D

But yes, as you can see....it's a screaming deal !!!

Dan

I wouldn't mind a little bit of natural, because I only have one knife I'd like to re-handle right now (and its NOT one of yours, Dan). So while its a deal, 12X12 is more than I need.

Now if anyone wants to cut off 2 1X4 chunks (or one 1X8 chunk) for me, great!

i may be interested though i have a question. is micarta dielectric (could be wrong wording) what i mean is if i stab an electric cable thats energized will it conduct through the micarta or will it act as an insulator.

Daniel I would be down with some black and green. I bet you could sell off any extra that you end up with. Of course that depends on what you have to charge for the cutting.

Thanks

It is an insulator, I have a bunch of brown westinghouse micarta made for it. (But that wouldn't matter if you had metal pins or an exposed tang. :D)
