For users/future users, I have multiples of most Beckers, Kabar 3/4 Shorties/1232s/1226, Kabar 1217s and variants, Ontario/Condor machetes, Buck 484/482/486 folders, Kabar Dozier folders.
From a collector stand point, I readily admit that I am an obessive/compulsive collector of certain knives - If there are multiple manufacturers and/or versions of a particular model I like, I have tried (mostly successfully) to get at least 1 example of each manufacturer and variations. As an example - the M5 Bayonets - there were 5 manufacturers and 2 variations, but all manufacturers did not make both versions. Some knives, like the USMC 1219C2/USN MK2, are the same way -- 4 companies made them, 4 pommel variations, ricasso vs guard stampings, red vs black spacers, multiple guard stamp variations, -- lots of possible targets of acquisition.

And you can go for the "get all model nubers of a particular maufacturer collection streams

And then there are the ones where Kabar re-used the model numbers on different style knives - take model number 1255 - there are at least 3 fixed blade variations - a hunter skinner version, a wharncliff rope knife and the current iteration - one of the leather the all black, Tanto combo bladed, leather sheathed 3/4 F/U Shortie (and change to the plastic sheath - model 5055). Yes, I have all 4.
Did I mention I'm just a little obsessive/compulsive???
