Any love for Colt wheel guns?

Anytime you re-finish you lower collector value, but on a gun in that condition there isn't any real collector value.
The guns are perfectly carryable, the 69's value wouldn't be majorly impacted by a correctly done nickel strip & blue job if that plating's already coming off.

If your wife likes it, gopher it. :)

Are the pre lock early S&W 60's with a 2 inch barrel any good ? This comes in an old blue cardboard looking box with all the goodies

Trust me- you definitely will not hurt the value of that '69 by having Colt refinish it. :)
The newer one looks pretty nice.

Mine's not so smooth and I'm a little dis-appointed with the slick grips. not to say the bluing just did'nt hold up:

Yes, I know this is about Colt wheel guns that are a little newer than my 1917 New Service but I could'nt ressist. Its in 45, has non factory ivory grips, and I think the barrel may have been shortened and the lanyard ring has been removed. My uncle found this a couple years ago in an attic of an abandoned garage outside Gibbonsville, ID. It was in an old leather boot. The building used to be a gas station that closed before WWII and he bought the land in 1965. I cant find a Ser # on the gun so I cant date or authinticate it. Its a nice conversation piece but not a shooter.

I love Colt's. Here are some of mine:

This is a New Service that I rescued. It cost $50, and was pretty much a rust bucket. New barrel, a lot of minor work, polish and finished in an aviation teflon, handmade Herret style grips; this was my car gun for a long time. Chambered 44-40.

Here's my favorite, original Bisley, 38-40. I've put a lot of rounds through this over the past 25 years.

And here's a fairly scarce Officers Match in .38 Spl. This is the gun that became the Python, and if you ever see one, buy it. The prices have been low (comparatively).

I just inherited 2 early 70's Pythons,4" and 6", and a Detective Special from my father. Still have to get those shipped up from TX. Lookin forward to a little range time with them. Ive also got a Frontiersman-?-single action- in .22/mag that Ive had and shot for years. Great pistol!--KV

Someday my collection will have a Python, Anaconda and a SAA in .45 LC.

Love the Colt wheelguns.

I have my father's 1964 Colt Detective Special that he carried on the job.

I've got a 4" Anaconda. Great trigger on that thing, especially in SA. I don't like the grips though, not enough to hold on to at the top of my grip. I haven't found any good replacement grips, though.

well I went to the local gun store to see about selling my Ruger Redhawk 44 mag that's only had 6 rounds fired out of it and they offered me an insulting price. So No Model 60 for me...

In my old age and so on, I can't understand why anyone would want to sell a Ruger Redhawk in 44 mag! This, IMO, is one of the finest handguns ever produced. I own one and wish I owned more. I wouldn't sell mine for any POS garbage produced by S&W or whoever. I put a Wolff spring kit in mine, the medium hammer spring and the lightest trigger return spring. It immediately became the finisest 44 Mag I've ever owned!

Is it OK if it's not a Colt?

Only gun I own.
.44 S&W Special

Well, I'm a rapidly aging ... perhaps already aged ... American male.

Of course I have 'some.'

Possibly quite a few.;)

Yea I think I may keep it. Its just a little much for the wife even with .44 russian loads
