any love for the Mora clipper???

I love my Clipper and it loves me.....

Rayban, which model is the top one? Thanks.

I love my Mora Clippers, I've got three: one for my life jacket, one in my truck for cutting up cardboard boxes when I go to the dump, one for kitchen, household and yard work. Just recently I bought the Allround Craftline (from Ragweed Forge) in stainless for my life jacket, it is almost identical to the Clipper with an improved sheath. (Mac, you'll probably pull the whole rig off your belt before you get the knife out of the sheath - takes two hands :D)

Edit: Regarding it not having a through-tang ... well, you can't have everything. I think it's plenty strong for what it is. If it's the only knife I have for survival, I think I'll be doing quite well.

Edit 2: I think it's interesting, looking at the pictures above, that people make sheaths for the Moras that are probably worth more than the knife itself. One of mine is in a kydex sheath that cost more than the knife. Despite the limitations, people put a lot of faith in these little beauties. :)

And they come razor sharp.

Great knives, if you buy one, buy two :) I have a SS and a Carbon, both are great.

I like the little Clipper ! it sharpens up easy & youcan make it Scary sharp ! Great slicer. I've either got mine in my day pack or w/ my 12" ontario ;)

Other that striking a fire steel, I would rather have the SS.

It is pretty square but doesn't spark like the carbon. In a pinch, it will work.

Maybe this is just a pet peeve of mine, but I have to say something here

There is absolutely nothing about carbon steel that will make it work better than stainless. You can get a spark with anything with a 90* angle (optimal, but not necessary. just needs to be sharp-ish) that is harder than the firesteel.

don't believe me? try it with a piece of broken glass sometime.

what's the carbon content of a beer bottle again?

My Moras did not come razor sharp. I tried to make them sharper with a diamond stone and a simple v-grind like they come as , unsuccessfully. I had to put a micro bevel on them with a ceramic rod to get them sharp.

Then I whittled some hot dog sticks. Had a contest. Mora . vs. JK. vs. Bear and Sons skinner. The Moras won easily. That low angle Scandi grind is amazing on wood. It grabs wood at a shallower angle making long effortless curls. It won hands down. No comparison. I think it just replaced my JK in the number one slot on the truck door. A seven dollar knife.

Indeed, I haven't found anything better than a Mora for carving wood

I have OD clippers in both carbon and stainless. They are great knives. :)

I don't really care for the factory sheaths though. They are functional, but Eric/ On Scene Tactical makes a far superior sheath for not too much money.

The Clippers are good knives.I have the stainless one and it's super strong for the size of the tang - i've battoned it through some hard pieces of wood and have abused it even more, but it keeps asking for more !
But I still prefer a nice carbon steel finnish puukko :)

I have used Eriksson 746's and Frsots 860's for a number of years. I live near the ocean and find stainless works better for me. Both fit my hands, but if you have larger hands, you might prefer the Eriksson. I use them daily in the kitchen, and for the ones I experimented on without improving them, they are relegated to yard work. Because of the cost, I have used them in ways I would never use an expensive knife. They worked so well, they became the knives I always grabbed, I finally gave up my expensive knife addiction! I recently purchased a Craftline Allaround from ragweedforge (always great service at a great price), and think it is a superior 860. The blade is a little thicker, the spine is already dressed, and the grip is great. These knives just work! Don't leave home without one.
