  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Any Merkur DE Lovers out there

I use a Merkur Vision, actually, I'm on the 3rd one in about 4.5 years.

The first one came already broken (the spot weld that holds the blade section to the post had already broken), that went straight back.

#2 arrived, this one did not hold the blade edge at a correct right angle -this combined with the V*I*S*I*O*N dial being so loose that it would spin by itself, made for some very nasty cuts while shaving. I had to let enough soap scum accumulate inside this razor for the dial to finally stay in place. The spot weld finally 'popped' while I was trying to change a blade late last year. This one went back as well.

Now on #3, seems better quality than the first 2, I hope this one holds out for longer.

This had been a pretty frustrating experience since I own about 10 vintage Gilletes (Fat Boy, adjustable, various safties) and they all still work great after up to 50 years. If I had it all to do over again, I would have bought a Merkur Futur.

Just want to add, I was channel-surfing and saw Edward james Olmos shaving with a Merkur in a Battlestar Galactica rerun, so I guess the props people think it futuristic enough.

i use a merkur 33c, long classic, when i bought it i wanted the hd, but couldnt find one, so i ended up with this one. Shaves fine

I just switched to DE a few weeks ago, there is no way i will ever go back. I have an HD and a Futur. I started with the HD and switched to the Futur which is absolutely awesome. I use Derby blades which I find to be excellent as well.

I may pick up a Vision just to have one.

I've just gotten into shaving with a safety razor and I purchased the Merkur 180. Seems to do a much better job then my old disposables.

www.emsplace.com for some first rate shaving soap. Its her own brand, all natural, good value & best of all works great. There are some good links about wet shaving for beginners / new comers too.

+1 on Em's Place. I've gotten soaps and creams there a few times, as well as my beloved Simpson Tulip 3. The service and quality are outstanding.
