Any Microtech EDC's?

Since there's no Microtech forum, I thought I would just post here.

So I'm just wondering if there is anyone here who EDC's a Microtech(s)? I personally have a Socom Delta Tanto with Aluminum Handle, and because it doesn't have a scratch on it (yet) I have trouble bringing myself to carry it. If you do carry a Microtech, let's see it! I love seeing beat up user Microtechs. Hell, just post a picture of a Microtech if you got it, doesn't matter which model!

On another note, it seems to me that there are two types of people who buy Microtechs. Those who treat them as safe queens and re-sell them. And those who have been carrying the same Microtech for the past 5, 10, 15+ years.

I've wondered why there's no Microtech forum myself, they're popular enough.
I used to edc a Microtech socom for a few years, but then, long story short, a cop decided he needed my knife more than I did..

That's one of my worst fears, as far as my knife passion goes. Granted, I don't get myself into situations that would give an officer of the law a reason to take a blade of mine.

I'll just say outright, a lot of guys find Microtechs to have an overly tacticool or mall-ninja appearance, and I can understand why that's a big turn-off. Personally, I like the appearance of a lot of MTs and all the MTs I've owned have been very well constructed with excellent materials.

As far as having a Microtech as an EDC? I EDC'd my Socom Delta G10 for at least two years before I sold it. Aside from having been sharpened many times, only wear was on the clip, blade coating, and a few scratches here and there on the G10. Another nice one was my MT DOC. I would have gladly EDC'd that knife if they hadn't put that god awful clip on it (I think they've since revised the clip design). Also owned a limited edition Blackout Ultratech. Was a cool knife and I carried it a bit but I never felt comfortable using it around non-knife folks so I sold it.

I'll just say that when I first delved into the knife hobby I was extremely hesitant to EDC my more expensive knives (my first "expensive" knife was my Socom Delta, followed by many much more expensive knives) but came to the realization that wear on a knife gives it character, those scratches make it mine. For that reason, I nearly always have that "babying" period before I start to truly use the knife for what it was made to do (if I decide I don't like it, I sell it before really using it). One of my favorite quotes definitely applies to knives, and it goes as follows, "A ship in harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are built for."

I carry these, but also carry other knives to along with them. So, they get carried but not used. (but I would use them if I was attacked, by something, or someone intent on doing harm to my person! :o)

Max, I really like the way you sharpened that socom delta. I love how the rounded tanto looks. And Jill, I always enjoy the pictures you post.

Here's my socom delta. I messed up sharpening it a little, but I think it looks fine now.

And here you can see the new edge I put on it.

I have a EDC a scarab and a Socom Elite . Will try and get some pics up later. They both get used pretty well but I often have two knives on me. One is always a beater for heavy tasks only because I can . I think the Elite could handle most anything you can throw at it. The Scarab is a Tanto and is a wicked slicer .

I carried a Socom DA with a two digit serial number for about 8 years. When I finally retired it she was tired looking but razor sharp and still as tight as new. I finally gave it away a few years ago and believe it is still being carried.

I have a Ultratech at the moment. Had a couple of Whalesharks. I would definitely love to find Anax, current grail knife!

I know MT makes non-autos, but speaking on autos specifically:

From what I've seen, many knife enthusiasts (myself included) get the auto itch at some point- autos are different and exciting from what most are used to, and kind of like Cuban cigars, they are the forbidden fruit in a lot of places so people want what they cant have.

Anyways I ended up getting a couple of MT's (an ultratech and doc auto) but as cool as they were, I couldn't comfortably EDC them- the DOC was bigger than would fit nicely in the pocket, and the ultratech seemed like it would be such a PITA to clean if I actually used it for daily tasks- so I ended up parting with both. My point is, I REALLY like them to look at- but I can't see them serving any routine EDC purposes for me

They have not asked for one to be set up (here at least), it's free and they only need to provide a company rep to moderate it.

Love that D.O.C. Brigadier, really nice coloration. I plan on picking one up in the future, if I can ever find one in a steel I like.

For a year or so I rotated through a wide variety of Microtech folders - Kestrel, Socom, Mini-Socom, L-UDT, and Hawk - for EDC. I have sold them off as they were just too small for my hand. A Halo V goes in my pocket now.

Thanks. I always like a green and black combo, for some reason.

I have a Mini Matrix at home - just got delivered.

I carry an ultratech on my property but they dont make anything that i care for in a format i can carry in public.

These two get a fair amount of use. The Scarab is fun, and has a useful blade shape (although OTFs are ill suited to my needs, it does OK for light urban stuff). The Socom Elite is one of my favourite folders and I wouldn't mind owning two or three more.

Nice DOCs, guys. I'm not much of a Microtech guy but every now and again I take a gander.
