Any of you gamers P.O.'ed with Starcraft 2?

I wasn't impressed with Diablo 2. Some good ideas, but just poor execution of a lot of it. I still play the first Diablo from time to time. Still a lot of fun.

i play a bit of d2. the expansion and the later patches added a lot of content.

d2 PvP is pretty awesome if you can avoid the hackers and the worst of the cheese.

I didn't know they made Starcraft for N64. I'm a Playstation devotee myself. I can't imagine Starcraft on a console. That is almost as bad as when Wizards of the Coast tried to make a Playstation version of Magic: The Gathering. I've been playing MTG since I was a freshman in high school shortly after it first came out. Now that's a game that is entertaining and challenging.

I played MTG on console! My parents said the card game was evil and so when it came out on console a friend and I played it. It was a terrible game, I did like it because of the fantasy cleavage the cards had though...I was like 12, I get a pass, right? Starcraft on N64 was particularly bad because scrolling was awkward and you couldn't really jump to the units you sent to the enemy base.

Welcome to the new world of PC games. The creators have finally found a way to cash in on downloadable content. Gone are the days of modding the games and making your own maps. PC games were way ahead of console games in the customability and lifespan of a game. While console user were getting tired of the same ol thing after 3 months, mod tools allowed pc gamers to create there own "sequals" to the intitial game in custom maps and game styles for multiplayer that allowed the game to stay fresh for years. But when you're releasing a game every 12 months you want your customers eager for something new, so bingo bango, mod tools gone. Now all dlc will be released by the developer and pay for use. It makes perfect business sense, especially when your target age group will have never experienced the days of customized game play. Maybe its time to back to playing Excite Bike on nintendo.

Already beat starcraft 2, my computer plays it on max settings flawlessly it's pretty reasonable requirements IMO.

Without any spoilers, the campaign is ONLY TERRAN....Future expansions will come out for the Zerg/Protoss. The Zerg are next it's going to be called heart of the swarm.

THAT is what made me mad...realistically their are only 22 maps and they take about....20-40 minutes average each to complete. WAY too short. I guess if you increase the difficulty you might pump out more time on the maps as there is a good scaling with everything as far as the difficulty goes.

So IMHO they put out 33% of a game and it took what 5 years for them to do that? PATHETIC. Also it costs $60, and $65 after taxes here in TN. PRICEY. The authentication process is ridiculous and I don't see anyone playing this online for free anytime soon.

Other than that ...NO it's not nearly the same as starcraft the original. 30 Different units....much of the old units were changed. Never more will you have your battle cruiser fire every 2 seconds.

I've been a long time FPS PC gamer, well long time Counter-Strike player ... until MW2 came out. Infinity Ward really screwed up making a perfect (multiplayer) fps game imo. No dedicated servers?! Constant host problems!
Whatever though, I'm not gonna complain and cry too much as I still played the game constantly until hitting 5th prestige. I don't care too much for it now ... and have been hooked on Super Street Fighter. If anyone is on Steam, PM me your steamID.

You should try Bad Company 2, its got a alright singleplayer, bit short, but IMO its pretty good for drop in multiplayer, but you do need internet, as they haven't put LAN in it yet, and there's almost no voice communication, which sucks, however I have heard that it may come out in a patch.

What do you play on steam? I've got steam, I'll PM you my ID if you'd like.

I suppose they are reasonable requirements on the subject of hardware if you have or are getting a new machine. I wouldn't call my machines old, but there are a few years on them and I'm not interested in sinking any money into them, especially for this game.

I agree with you 100% on your feelings regarding the time it took for them to get this one out and the cost. It is pathetic. They would have been better off in my opinion simply putting out an expansion past Brood War that included the new units and extending the story line. The new mechanics are interesting in relation to map movement and the graphics are outstanding, but they are trying to do and asking for too much. They would have to make some drastic changes to the game for me to take interest in it further and I'm already jaded.

they make the spec of the game so high then nobody is going out to buy it. who wants to spend $1,000.00 or better just to play a new game that just got release??

You would have to spend maybe 300 dollars to upgrade your computer to be able to play this...130-150 on a video card and another 130 on a new processor.

If you wanted to spend a 1000usd you could build a computer that could play games for the next several years. I built my current computer about 3yrs ago (which then cost about 700usd) and just recently spent 300 dollars on a new motherboard, ram and processor and can run most games on max.

I think where we're going with this is that you shouldn't have to buy new or upgrade your machine just for a game. I have a 1.8 Ghz AMD with 512 Mb RAM and up until this game it has performed exceedingly well. I can understand Blizzard/Activision wanting to produce a high quality and visually stunning game, but for the average recreational gamer it's a bit much. Had the specs been published over a year ago when I pre-ordered it, I wouldn't have done it. It adds insult to injury when you do get it and you realize how many of the features and freedoms that made the first one great have been stripped out to turn it into a cash cow.

I just bought a brand new lap top 3 months ago and It does not have those spec. you can not just change a mother board on a lap top. screw the game.

That's a very old computer...I don't think you should have to upgrade a computer to simply play a game, but you are going to have to upgrade your computer if you expect to play any games made within the past couple years. You can't expect for developers to push the limits on what a computer can do and still tailor it to hardware that is 4yrs old.

For reference most mid-range laptops now days are running dual core processors at 2.4Ghz with 2-4Gb of RAM. I don't even know what video card you have, but eventually you are going to have to upgrade your computer if you expect to play a modern game, nevermind that SC2 isn't even that big of resource hog.

Are you sure about that? What is the model of laptop that you got? You can't change the mobo but you could at more ram to it and change out the processor if you had some time.

I bet your laptop can still play it at minimum settings.

Again, I really don't understand why anyone is complaining about the requirements.

My comp is over 6 years old, and was never "high end", and only has some RAM and a slight video card boost. I run the game fine.

You have to put it in perspective. As far as comps go you are probably right, I had this machine built in 06 so it has some age on it. Even so, I am not a hard core gamer. I have never spent any substantial amount of time on it gaming. The occasional LAN party or family gatherings is where most of my game time is spent. I could upgrade it, or simply buy another machine if I wanted, but as a whole this one does what it is intended to do.

I game only occasionally as well but even then it's not that expensive to keep your computer capable of playing modern games. Your computer is definitely in need of an upgrade if you want to use it much longer or play any games. It wouldn't be expensive either to just swap out the mobo, processor and ram. I'm not one for buying pre-assembled computers, but really once you have a base it's all about adding to it and swapping out parts.

But you have to admit it's slightly disingenuous to say that SC2 should have lower hardware specs when your computer has what it has...not bashing your computer just pointing out the truth.

you can not change the processor on a lap top. add more ram, chage out the hard drive and that is about it.

You sure about that? It's not that hard to do, you just have to have some time and patience. It's pointless to change out the mobo, but it is certainly possible to add more ram and change the processor in a laptop. Shoot, some people even go so far as to add and change out the heatsinks in their laptops to make them run cooler.

Laptops are the same as desktops, just smaller...everything can be changed out.

A few years back I and several thousand other folks patiently awaited Neverwinter Nights II , when I read it was going to be a system hog , I like many of those several thousand went out and upgraded via ram , video cards or a whole new PC , when the game itself came out I was so... underwhelmed is putting it lightly , that and a twist of anger that I had blown near $300 for a game that was horrible.
They did all this shamncy graphics on a game that so unwieldy it was not even funny , not to mention made the game editor beyond complicated , the game pretty much died to those who loved all the great mods of the first NWN.

I wont make that mistake again ! :D

On that note , it is ridiculous you cannot play SCII without an internet connection , I have read about this , but if you do some further research there are 'ways' around that ;) and they work quite well. Poo on Blizzard for trying to muscle it's way around the gaming world.

I hope they do not pull the same silliness for DIII.

You have to upgrade your pc to play games because there isn't too many ways to improve gaming without adding better hardware. Half life 2 is one of the FEW games that pulled off amazing graphics with minimal requirements
