Any one knife people out there?

I used to be a one-knife person... when I was eight years old. :D

My son is almost four, and he's never been a one-knife person. ;)

I've always carried one knife at a time, except when camping. But as far as only using one knife for the foreseeable future, it's not in the cards. Remember, variety is the spice of life. :D

Just logged on and saw this. Zero replies. Haha.

What was the point in this reply?

It always starts with just one.

But I don't agree that non-knife people are the only people with just one knife.

I only have one hammer, one cordless drill, one car, one house... they all get plenty of use. I collect knives, so I have several of them lying around (I count eight on the desk as I type this).

But there are people out there who own a high end knife and carry and use it every day and don't own, need or want a second pocket knife. They're just not collectors.

I wish I was. I'm a zero knife person. Pathetic, I know. Can't have one at work, don't need one when running, and one in the house is always at hand so I don't need to carry one.

Actually, I think its kinda a cool idea to have ONE knife that you can use for all of your tasks.... I DO have several knives but most of them stay put away, oiled up and not used very often. I found a pocket knife I really liked and carried it for a year or so using it for not only EDC stuff but even dressing AND skinning a deer in November! That knife sure was battle bruised but the dang thing has character. Guess what the knife is? You're all gonna laugh. A $22 Ka-Bar Dozier Folding Hunter in AUS-8. Decent knife but I've since realized I need better steel in a knife I use for almost everything.... so I picked up a BM 550 Griptilian Sheepsfoot in 154CM... should have it in a couple days. It will be nice to have my "One Knife for Everything" upgraded. I'm wanting to put some Orange G10 Wilkins Grips on it when he releases them again.... Can't wait!

I have a few knives, but I've thinned the collection, and consider myself a one knife guy. I carry Emerson CQC-10, I have 3 cheap kershaws, some Chinese crap which i don't even look at anymore, and a leatherman wave. Thats it for my folding knives. I'm thinking about a small cheap spyderco, but I just got me another fixed blade.

But I only EDC the CQC-10. I had Spyderco Mili, and traded it for Emmerson. So I got only one note worthy folder. I don't have many fixed blades either I think my entire knife colection is 8 knives not counting the useless junk, and with the junk it goes up to like 14. What makes me, part of this comunity is the fact that in those 8 blades I got over 1 grand, and just ordered another for $270, while basically being unemployed.

I suppose I'm a one knife person sort of. Mostly because my "Things to buy" list is a mile long and my bank account is not :p . Right now my only real knife is a Kershaw Shallot and I love it to death. I carry it with me whenever I'm not on my college campus (as that's illegal). I say "real" knife because I also have a Gerber clutch that I keep with me at all time which has a really dinky knife. I also have the first knife I bought, a Gerber Kiowa which is a POS I tossed in a drawer.

I am almost embarrassed to say that I only own 8 knives right now:o mind you I am in the midst of make 4 others and ordered steel for a 5th if that counts:D

Well I'm a young, poor student, who's recently got into this knife game properly (I've always been fond of knives though) and I carry just a SAK, I've got an Izula too, but there aren't any clear knife laws for my country that I've found yet and so I don't usually carry that, besides, it doesn't fit in my pocket. Hopefully soon I'll get a Spyderco to compliment my SAK, but as yet, dollars are few and far between.

ditto, well sort of

I own 2 knives, soon to be three, but the first one I have is a POS and never really gets used, maybe open a letter or pry stuff here and there.

been carrying my second one, but plan to use that for hiking when my new spydie comes along, so in a way, I am a one knife person, as I dont like to have 6 knives that are all folders, they do the same thing to me, cut stuff etc.. and I feel that way I save money too, instead of having like 600 bucks of knives in a drawer, when I'll only use one, or at least use one the most, and one will end up being the ugly duckling..

Plus I only carry one knife on me, if that, at a time. I see the whole redundancy thing for hiking, camping etc.. but EDC? its like everyone is expecting zombies or something really bad to happen, and so then if their 3rd folder cant do the job, perhaps their other 4 can (yes I exaggerated that a lot,) Thats just my opinion however, and as a student, I only need one knife

It's been a long time ago, but I remember the days when I carried one and only one pocket knife on me. I wouldn't even buy another one until I lost or broke the knife I was carrying.

Oh man, a little over 2 years ago I was exactly the same way. My friend snapped the tip off of whatever $15 piece of junk knife I carried at the time. I went to an actual knife store this time and saw that there was a whole world of knives that I wasn't aware of. And how the heck could that one on the shelf possibly be worth $400!?!?

This led me to BladeForums, which led me to being poor but owning about a dozen decent knives.

I like variety, it's fun getting up every day and deciding which one I want to carry.

Just the one in my pocket when I'm out and about. Other than that i could never have just one. Kind of like eating potatoe chips or popcorn just one. No never!

Not me, but I do know plenty of NO-knife people who own nothing save a couple of cheap dull kitchen drawer knives.

I couldn't imagine having only one myself, I've been into knives since before I could talk, and have been collecting whatever I could get my hands on since I was like 7. -I like variety. :)

I fear that I'll end up getting heaps of knives i have no real need for, all becuase of BF, however at the moment I have a good method of not letting that happen, become a uni student :D - say goodbye to nice knives, food, hell even going out strains the budget haha, well at least at my age.

BUT I do like variety and mixing it up, however at the same time, I like having, the same folder in my pocket, knowing that it can do everything I want it to do, and then still have it 5 years or more later. Kinda like my wallet, which I had for nearly the entire time I was at highschool. It didn't have everything I wanted in it, and as time went on I found things that I would improve etc.. but it served me well. I feel the same way about knives.

How about having just one knife on order at a time. That's about as close as I'll come to this one knife thing.

I occasionally carry my old Cammilus Cub Scout knife, you know, just to remember what was like to only have one knife to carry. :D I did a lot with that knife in the past. But the rest of the time, it sits with a number of much newer EDCs.

Most of my family are one knife people. My mom and dad both carry little SAKs and my dad has a bigger folder or two if he needs them.

My brother in law carries a leek, used to be a fury when I first met him, then a gerber para frame, now a leek.

My oldest sister actually puts a lot of what I have to shame since I bought her a BM Nagara on clearance at knifeworks with her name etched on the blade.

I just gave my other sister my old mostly worn out chive for beating on at work, and if it comes back to me for a sharpening I might just hand her my tenacious.

Even then though I only have a few blades, an rc3 for the woods, an izula for a hard day at work (having a hard time using this little guy enough) a zdp delica in my work bag, tenacious in the glove box. Then the little guys, h1 ladyguy SE on my lifejacket or pocket, kissing crane med. brown mule and case CV mini muskrat that both see everyday carry at work. Along with a tti charge thats always with me, this week along its helped fix a washing machine, my car, two computers at least, an outboard motor and tweeked a scooter.

I think your average knife user is a one knife person, of all the people I know I can only think of a few that have more than two, and those are mostly because the first one was a POS that broke on them and they bought something better.
