Troll. Perhaps 16 years old. Not even Omega-Doom was this stupid.:jerkit:

Lets just say JokerGod was to get in trouble with the law regarding swords.

Imagine the prosecutor painting this picture. A man (boy...whatever) using a sword to do whatever he was doing at the time, but this man is a crazed sword wielding maniac. It would be very easy for the prosecutor to convince the jury that this person was simply an aggressive sword wielding dingbat waiting to kill someone.

Lets face it, our society nowadays just isn't accustomed to the use of swords or to an extent, the use of blades period. Many people just find using edged weapons to be too gruesome and/or cruel.

As a martial artist, I spend lots of time contemplating these things, so here is my advice.

Put your grandfather's swords away.

I don't care about your honor.

We don't need any more stupid legislation.

My 2 cents.

I have an interesting question. it may be obvious answer or not. here goes:
i have a high carbon steel sword with a 28-inch "blade." only, its not real. it has completely blunt edges, made so that you cannot cut anything with it... you couldnt even cut butter. maybe smash through it. it also has a flat tip.it looks good though. it is made for staged combats. any ways, this "stage sword" made me wonder whether it is still bound by laws regulating the carrying of swords... since it cant cut or peirce much more than a huge pencil. would it even qualify as a weapon?

If you are carrying it to a practice stage to practice then it is not supposed to be considered a weapon since it is a stage prop. However don't go trying to kill something with it and your good.

This has made it to 3 pages!! (insert party smiley here). I did a little research about some other jokergods from other forums and it turns out if its the same person he that he really is awful at spelling. I have also found out that he likes pie. I also have reason to believe he was born in 1987. Well jokergod? are you the same joker god from other forums?

Two people posting under the same name with spelling that atrocious? That would like winning the lottery twice! Which jokergod misspelling is your favorite? Here's an excellent list:

problume haveing diden't seprat chareshed meen unkle tradishanal hideing carrieing sertch fashan trentch Obveasly

My favorite is "sertch." As for the legitimate question asked about stage combat swords, I carried a prop sword back and forth to school during high school and was never hassled. That doesn't mean you won't be, but I think as long as you don't threaten or attack anyone with it you should be ok.

Hunting animals with bladed weapons for sport has been going on since the origin of sport hunting.
I find it easier to believe that they hunted with spear and/or bow (the bow being a device that was used as early as 25,000-50,000 B.C.); whereas the sword was "discovered" in the Bronze age (~3000 B.C.). When hunting Cervidae (that is, the deer/moose/elk/antelope family) any hunter who wants a kill will tell you it's far easier to use a missile weapon for range attacks. Stalking a deer to within 10 yards is next to unheard of.

Chasing down prey on a horse could even the odds some, but it's not like deer would run a straight line when pursued.

As far as hunting deer with an accurately thrown United Cutlery sword... :jerkit:

JokerGod,

No self-respecting LEO would stand idly by watching some tool saunter through town looking like William Wallace. Go ahead and carry your sword if it's that important to you, but don't get upset when it gets seized by Officer Friendly and locked away.
