Any other FAL fans out there?

I have had some nice ones over the last 12 years or so. I started off with a STG58 on an Imbel that would not work, found the FAL Files due to it--the old board. Then came a DSA STG 58 series. Then I got the bug to build one, then another, etc until I had about 6 or 7 at one time. Then when ammo got stupid expensive I got away from the FAL and side tracked with the AR. Well, don't own a AR anymore but this is what I kept. Just put together the fixed stock lower and sighted it on Sunday. All it needs now is a nice Blu Monster wood stock and a tall rear sight like the ones on an open eared gas block model. Here are the pics, sorry no Buskin blades on me that day.

Para 18", Type II DSA lower, lt wt Para lower receiver, neoprene cheek rest for use with optic, Aimpoint M2 in QRP mount on top of Grenadier dust cover mount, 3 pt sling, FSE flat ch, wide pad bho, L1A1 mag release, etc.

Same upper but a fixed German BGS lower receiver. Just undo the hinge pin, replace lower, dust cover, pop bolt into bolt carrier, and reassemble.

I love this thread!

Nice collection. I bought an Imbel L1A1 a couple of years ago from Century for $500.00. I did a little work on the trigger and got it to around 5# crisp. It's a pretty nice rifle. The lock up system reminds me of an AK.

I don't own one but am a fan because I have experience with this variant of it. The South African R1.

The paras like that one were scarce from what I've heard. I've got a pic somewhere of a So. African R1 in the field. FALs- the cadillac of automatic rifles!

We had a few R1's but they were not our primary carry. We carried the smaller R5. I wish I could own versions of both.
