Any Other Tolkien Fans Here?

Brian, I'm a huge Tolkien fan. I actually read the books once a year. However, I wasn't able to read them all this year as I was trying to read all of Terry Brooks Shannara novels in order this year. Anyway, I'll gladly lend you any thing that I have that you might need for the project. I also have several of the UC movie replicas. Sting, Orcrist, Legolas' knives and Hadhafang. I'm trying to collect all the Elvish blades.
Unfortunately, I'm currently on the road for work until Labor Day weekend. If there's anyway that I can help just shoot me a PM.

Thanks man! I will put some thought into the larger ones. I am still trying to get in touch with someone at the Tolkien estate to discuss things. So for no reply, so I may have to get creative with my titles and descriptions if I publish the project in a coffee table book and calendar the way I would like to...

Oh, I also have replicas of Aragorn and Gandalf's pipes that were made by a small Canadian pipe company. They're pretty nice.

If you all are pipe smokers. A now retired pipe maker from New Zealand named Jan Zeman made very nice handmade replica LOTR pipes. His work is scarce but his website is still active. For factory made pipes check out vauen pipes.

The books are superlative, the movies were...uhm....entertaining, and having a drink at his old pub was priceless. I have 3 different Kepharts and a swedged Shank, all synthetic, at your service if needed. School starts soon and I won't notice them gone for quite awhile.

Pretty much my thoughts too. I have re-watched all six of them several times and I have the extended editions, but I listen to the books more often.

Thank you, I may need to borrow a Shank. I am trying to do mostly wooden handles in the close-up scenes but in the broader scenes I will be more relaxed I think.

I do want to limit borrowed knives to knives that have actually been used and which a little extra patina from food prep or food consumption shots won't be a problem for the owners

I always thought Feanor would have carried a Big Sneaky.

Huge Tolkein fan.

I think I need to get the Hermit involved in this, maybe that should be Radagast's knife. He didn't mention near enough about Radagast in the books, maybe I should expand on that :)

throughout my entire life I've been a Tolkien fan, never had much choice in the matter, lol!

This is great, I'm a huge Tolkien fan and have read the books many times over. Including the lesser known /read books.

The main trilogy movies were good, although I think you lose to much when turning a book into a movie. The Hobbit... I just couldn't take it.

I'd love to see a coffee table book! If there is anything in my collection you'd like to use feel free to let me know, all of mine are users.

Very cool! I am definitely trying to make it happen, and thank you very much! I will be doing most of the shots starting this autumn, so I am doing a lot of test shots between now and then to decide on colors for the photos.

Radagast would likely have a BCKarda to go with that Hermit...

Big fan here. Radagast has always been one of my favorite characters, I to wish there had been more development around him.

You may be right there. And yeah, there were a few areas I wish he had developed a little further. But it gave my imagination work to do :)

Not a big fan but the project sounds very interesting.

I'm having fun with it :)

Love Tolkien, and especially Silmarilion...

What about Finrod and Beleg? A Terrasaur and a Duke?

Lots of room to play with for sure.

I need one of those, and I know someone who would love that Vegeta one :)

Definitely a change of plans in order. Someone is going to be carrying a Rapscallion...

I think I am going to end up with multiple Gauchos, I love the white one in a lot of scenes, but I think I really need a bocote one for something I am working on now.
