Any Other Tolkien Fans Here?

Those books are chalk full of important lessons thT I hope I will not have to explain to my son. Good stuff.

Such a cool thread! I am a reasonably ardent fan, but my wife can quote most any line (including the Silmarillion!) so I will definitely have to share this with her.

Yes, lots of important life lessons covered in the story.

Thanks! I need to make a revised list since Andy has released a few models that didn't exist yet at the time I made the original list :)

I can quote much of the trilogy and The Hobbit due to how many times I have listened to the audio books. I suppose I like the story to a near unnatural extent...

I read the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings 32 years ago. I was only 8 years old at the time but nobody is going to make a knife/sword/whatever that will ever make the meanest knife from that story in my mind. No diss to any knife maker ever but there's no way for anyone to intrude on the stories I built up in my head.

The project I have in mind is not to make anything in particular that actually exists in the story itself, much less any of the "meanest" ones. Those and their uses are already described in much detail, and stepped in much lore within the story itself. The project I am working on goes into, firstly, the more "mundane" types of knife uses that would have had to take place over the course of the stories that were told. Since the Hobbits were an agrarian society that was an entire culture of foodies. Plus having read The Hobbit and the Trilogy multiple times from age 13 till my mid 20s, and listening to them on audio book on a regular basis today, I think I will go into parts the books don't even go into, like Bilbo's journey to Rivendale which took place 9 years before Frodo left the shire. And probably some of his life there in Rivendale, since Bilbo was the supreme foodie of the story who had always been known for his love of food and cooking. These are all just some of the test shots, so some duplication in them, but it gives an idea of the thinking behind the project.

I'm afraid I was being a bit fussy with my earlier response, and I'm sorry. It's a challenge tackling a project that already has preconceived imagery in a person's mind. I could definitely see any of those excellent photos including a couple rotund halflings, hairy feet and all. Those colors really POP!

It really is extremely challenging. It has been very hard just gathering the accent pieces I need, and arrange for the locations I need in order to do this story justice. It has been a project I have been quietly working on for about five years now. I got the idea when I first started my flora data base. I was out shooting photos of flora and a rabbit hopped out of some bushes and I automatically thought of the chapter of herbs and wild rabbit. Back then I had no idea how I wanted to approach it, or what I wanted to do, I just knew that it was extremely important for me to somehow use my art to create a tribute to to a story that has such a profound impact on my life, and has such deep meaning for me personally. It is a very long story that I won't go into here, but for me the four books: The Hobbit, The Fellowship of The Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of The King, are far more than just stories I read in my youth.
