Any plans to bring back the Becker Brute?

recently, someone posted on here that they'd like a 4 finger version of a BK11, and Ethan said that soon, something would be coming out that wouldnt disappoint.

Okay, fine, another thing to anxiously await. The anticipation is going to drive me even nuttier than I already am. Now I'll have to hoard my pennies even more to buy the new one (whatever it may be).

speaking of brutes...

well, well, and well!

the Kershaw outcast sure looks like a brute... MSRP $130, in basket price around $70-80.

but this new offering from benchmade "Marc Lee Glory Commemorative Combat Knife" looks VERY much like a Becker product, right down to the BK-7 style thumb ramp. Heh. MSRP $350? In basket price around $245. I think I'll be "buying Becker". Ouch.

I have to say, the Outcast is nice, and I like the way it chops, but when I saw the "Made In China" on the paperwork (it didn't say it on the box) I almost took it back.

I have an Outcast very nice blade over all. Ate up all of my gatco stones reprofiling it as I hated the ax like grind it came with. What amazed me is that it really did not out perform the BK2 on a bunch of smaller tree's I limbed. On some of the bigger branches the OutCast did well as I got a better swing on them with the OutCast but over all the smaller 5.5 inch blade on the BK2 worked just as well. Something about the quarter inch thick blade made light work of the limbs. Seemed to push through them as opposed to chopping through the OutCast did.

This looks like a good place to bring a BRUTE question. I have a Camillus-era Brute with the kydex sheath that is close to being new. It has never been sharpened, and it was used to cut down one Alaska birch tree about 4 inches in diameter before I left my last teaching area. Any ideas what its worth would be to members here or what it would bring on ebay?

In that same vein, what about a patrol machete with the nylon sheath that has only been used to cut a couple of willows where I currently live? The "trees" they have out here are so small I can get through them with my Mora, let alone my Beckers or Busses. I am thinking about reducing my knife collection greatly, its one I've been building for many years. I have 3 Machaxes, one an original that I won't likely ever part with for sentimental reasons and two new-in-box black blade, kydex sheath models (I'm assuming they're Camillus as well.) Of course the Machaxes are locked up in Utah waiting for me to have a summer break so I won't be putting them on ebay any time soon.

brutes are $10, and the machete is $5, package deal ;)

machaxes are about $9 :>

heh heh heh.

just go on ebay, and look, you'll be amused

Wow, that didn't take long! They're gone!

(Yes, it was a joke: I'm not actually selling in these forums. Thanks for the advice though, they're going for CRAZY prices considering what I paid for them!)

Yeah the $200 - $300 is a bit over the top. I'd like a Brute and am willing to pay a reasonable mark up but that is way over the top for what will be a user not collector.

With my blessing...and my thanks for a Texican who can give them a good home where they will be loved and abused. Shame to see them sitting around up here doing nothing but collecting dust.
